Those are some unexpected scary sounds. Like a fast moving car coming to an abrupt stop followed by my grandmothers stomach when shes hungry.
Agreed. Dude probably knows everything about elephants, but if I heard that, I think the elephant is about to kill me
There's a reason they were used in the Jurassic Park movies.
I was today years old when I learned that
Yoooo that's why the growls sounded so similar! No shit, that's neat af.
I believe a combination of elephant noises and screeching tires were used to make the iconic TIE Fighter sounds too!
I was thinking it sounds an awful lot like a dinosaur! The low rumbles with the shrieking is just scary. Other-worldly even.
Like a protoss adopted a zerg. Odd stuff.
I've had the pleasure of visiting the David Sheldrick elephant orphanage and hoo boy. The sound they make when they let them out to go drink milk, your hair stands on end.
Listen to those noises. I'm going to share an elephant-related excerpt from a book called *Red Nile*, by Robert Twigger:
> Elephants in the bush now habitually make the noise of truck roar on the road, the sound of a Land Cruiser rattling into life, or a striker zinging through grass. They can also do natural sounds such as frogs croaking or cats coughing.
> Their super mimicry skills seem best suited to low-frequency sounds which they can emit and receive in spectra below human visibility. The trunk and each foot contain many nerve endings designed to register sound in association with the auditory nerves in the ears. If it really needs to hear, an elephant will lay its trunk along the ground and raise one foot. This improbable move increases pressure on the other three feet and boosts their hearing capability.
Elephants are the best.
I had no idea they do sound mimicry, that’s so cool. Thanks for sharing!
They're very smart creatures. They even have funeral rituals they perform when a member of the heard dies.
Today I learned. Thank you
Fantastic!!! (both the baby’s noises and this description)
Highly underrated sub
I didn't know u could add gifs lol
Its a feature the admins are slowly rolling out to specific subreddits. Only a handful of users who use "powerups" on the subreddit can use it so far... but in the future I hope it will be unlocked for everyone.
[Today is the first day our subreddit got it](https://www.reddit.com/r/worldnewsvideo/comments/l246fu/reddit_admins_have_enabled_powerups_in_our/) and this is my first gif. Exciting stuff.
I didn't know that, thanks for letting me know.
I have seen what can happen to subreddits and their discussions with this „feature“ and I don’t know why anyone would be excited about it. It makes the comment section nearly unusable when you have to scroll through hundreds of pointless gifs to filter out helpful/informative comments. Unlocking it for everyone would make Reddit way worse than it is now IMO.
It'll be like facebook with stickers lol
Not gonna lie to you, in text messages I use gifs all the time so I’m a little excited & I just found out I have them here as well. I’m sure they’ll find some way to make the visibility of the section look better. Especially if there’s enough complaints about
Maybe they'll add a setting to be able to manually expand gifs or play them
That could be dope
This is what should happen, otherwise it will grow out of control
I use them in text messages too and I love them there but text messages are generally much more dynamic compared to a comment thread. I just think people would overuse them and 9/10 threads would become a clusterfuck (and from what I’ve seen so far that’s exactly what happens).
Sometimes I feel like the comment section gets out of control because when people reference a movie scene or something I’m not familiar with or a meme and then tons of people join in, it makes me lose interest in reading the rest of the comics. I guess one cool thing is now they can use visuals & it might make some jokes or references make more sense...ya know?
It’s gonna become funnyjunk essentially
Also for people browsing on their phones off wifi... The data charges
The more you know--That's Robert Redford!
Idk why this looks so wrong to me
Thanks for calling attention to the sub I was in. I added it.
I want an elephant friend.
Me too 😔
I read that as fried and was like, wtf?
The noises that thing makes, I swear I was looking for a tiger and then some idiot rubbing balloons together
That's an elephant purring
That's a huge puppy
A fire-hose-nose pup.
What's the story of this elephant? Have they been stolen from their parents and are to tortured (crushing) for tourist rides?
Always my first concern when seeing an elephant under human possession.
The problem is its about 50/50 super polarized
Either this elephant will get tortured and made to do manual or demeaning labour for the rest of its life or its in some sanctuary where itll eat the freshest fruit and get massages and paint pictures until it grows old
Think again on the painting of pictures :(
[here's a picture of the dude holding a sickle that is used to 'tame' elephants by scratching at them](https://scontent.fyvr4-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/119705891_172753404400802_2065966927964710579_n.jpg?_nc_cat=109&ccb=2&_nc_sid=8024bb&_nc_ohc=Ho71lj5vmmAAX-qSwwb&_nc_ht=scontent.fyvr4-1.fna&oh=eb87aeb70c4aa448524a0798828778c1&oe=60310423)
Horrific. Thanks for clarifying.
Never knew elephants made so much noise! Super cool sounds! I wonder what they sound like when they’re mad
Almost sounds like a lion.
Life should be like this. To enjoy.
Also, trying not to think that it could kill you in any second.
Sounds like a dinosaur
He's mocking you
Thought he was about to get his head slapped off there at the very end
Oh my cuteness 😍
I've never found an elephant so cute before.
Elephant: “come back hooman I wanna give you nuggles”.
He's saying something like, "exercise exercise come on."
God damn the noises it makes running are hilarious! He’d of run me over when I fell out laughing at .20sec noise he makes. Man that’s great
I adore elephants. This is why.
Why the fuck would anybody get a thrill out of shooting one of them? Such sweet intelligent creatures
Imagine it's pitch black outside and all of sudden you hear those noises from afar and they start getting closer and closer.
This is a job I want.
So, that guy is living the best life. No need to continue the search for the best life, here it is.
Can't escape the happy
They both just seem so happy.
That roar at 11s is scary...
Im not crying at 6:26 am
I did not know that tik tok featured widescreen
Today I learned where the first 6 Star Wars movies got their alien sounds from LOL
That elephant sounds like Zoidberg
