You got fruits, that’s a good thing. Now you can just dial everything in. Good job

LuckyPQ

What you do you mean by dial everything in? Harvest everything? Cause some are really small, and I'm waiting for them to rip their veil before harvesting, and thank you very much :) happy cake day!

Organic-Seat5589

Just dial in your grow conditions. Getting your fae perfect and such

LuckyPQ

I'll try my best, i let them breath every day, but i don't know anything about filters i just use the one that came with the grow bag, is there any way I can monitor if the air flow is good?

Organic-Seat5589

If you want, you can buy a co2 meter. Next time, just double your fanning of the tub, and see what happens. You did fine though. Did you grow them in the bag? If so, look into it more. You’re supposed to cut the top off, and open it a few times a day, then put a chip clip on it to close it back up.

LuckyPQ

Thank you! I grew them in the bag and opened for 5 minutes every day, i had no idea you had to fan them, but now I'll do that and note the result :)

Organic-Seat5589

Next time, try 3 times a day, if they get long and stringy again, try 4 times. Fanning is more for monotubs.

Maddogtommy

You need to allow more fresh air. They are tall and skinny due to too much Co2.

LuckyPQ

I see! Thank you for the tip, i hope that my second flush will be less leggy

TangoMangoFungi

Barely got any fuzzy feet, so I wouldn't worry about FAE too much, looks fine to me. Just genetics.

LuckyPQ

What do you mean with fuzzy feet?

TangoMangoFungi

An good indicator for a lack of FAE is some white fuzz growing on the bottom stem of your fruits. In extreme cases they additionally grow super long, skinny and don't look super healthy with small caps. It's super casual and it's not Bad for your yield oder your quality, it's just imperfect conditions. Imo, yours are so long because you got long genetics, they just look that way.. Start new from spores and clone the fruit closest to what you are looking for. Work from there.

Maddogtommy

You could be right, but too much moisture can also cause fuzzy feet, as well as genetics. There are generally a number of things that contribute. But if they are in fact Golden Teachers, they certainly are not meant to (in generic form) look like that.

Particular-Target-60

THIS ^^^^^^

nature-boy99

I get more B+ vibes over GT

FatherxJawn

Came here to say this. OP check out my recent posts I just harvested B+ and these look quite similar, I was also told mine need more FAE. First time grower here as well

Serious-Magician3708

I bet i put side by side and you can't tell the difference

LuckyPQ

Man, i still gotta learn what B+ and GT mean

SpeedyJake91

GT = Golden Teacher, B+ = Be Postive 🙂 You did good on your first harvest! Now enjoy the fruits of your labor!!

DonClenzo

first flush always sucks 2nd is better, also the size depends on genetics. why are your hela long?

LuckyPQ

I've been told that's it's because I didn't give it enough oxygen

63h3m0th

Just watch boomershroomer on YouTube

LuckyPQ

Will do

mycomagick

That's another great channel I forgot to mention... there are so many, it's difficult to understand why newcomers go into this with no knowledge. OP has a lot of research to do.

63h3m0th

Definitely does, and there are plenty of resources l!

LuckyPQ

Will do! This deserves the researched I'm just getting started and I've already had loads of fun

mycomagick

It gets so much better, from agar work to procuring lab essentials,,,every single step is an adventure and the outcome is more than a prize...its a way of life and health. I applaud your beginning! You did well with what you were working with.

LuckyPQ

Thank you so much! Everyone is being so nice and it just motivates me to learn everything there is to learn about this, but also respect the process, I'll enjoy it, thank you for your tips!

mycomagick

No worries, we all want to see each other succeed! It's all in the Mush love!

bullish88

Half a week early

Sorry_Anxiety6424

O contam, got some fruits, I’d say you did great. Down the line you’ll get better and have their humidity/fae perfect and you’ll get better looking fruits. But for now be proud of your good work!

LuckyPQ

:') thank you sweet person, sometimes it's good to remember that you're in a learning process, and to enjoy it instead of stressing that it's not going fast enough.

Sorry_Anxiety6424

Definitely. I feel you 100% everything takes time though and you’re doing great :)

NGC6753

First flush? If it is then the second may well be better. They do look a bit leggy, could be you need to fan more however I have no real experience with growkits.

ZydePunk77

They look great. More fresh air isn’t going to help anything. They look that way because of genetics. More restricted air flow (less fresh air) actually forces a lot of cultures to squat out. Not get taller. It’s actually better to let the veils completely tear...or get at least 90% tore open. IMO. Longer metabolization means more alkaloids. You just have to catch them before they blow a load all over the cake. I would avoid the “grow kits” in general. And if you want more consistent fruits (smaller fruits are ALWAYS better than larger fruits btw) then learn agar. Spore to agar Agar transfer 2-3 times. Get 2-3 transfer from each plate. Or 1. Each plate will almost always have a different genetic. Different sizes, shapes, morphologies, etc. And more consistently sized fruits THEN: Agar > grain. (3lb grain bag preferably) Grain to substrate (9-10lb preferably) In a monotub. (32qt Sterlite tub with the blue gasket). This would make the whole process actually worth the effort. And you would have way more than the few grams you have pictured above. And it would be waaay CHEAPER too. Even if you did spend the extra Money on pre-sterilized grain bags, pre-made agar dishes, and pre-pasteurized & bagged substrate. And you’d get typically closer to a QP of shrooms instead of less than a 1/2oz. 🤷‍♂️. Just my $0.02. You’re doing great btw. Keep at it and you’ll be pullin 3oz(dry) flushes in no time

LuckyPQ

Thank you!!!

ZydePunk77

🙏

LuckyPQ

Also the little ones were attached to bigger ones that's why they're out aswell

LuckyPQ

Also, anyone know how to prevent them growing to the side and forcing them to grow up?

timmyisserpico

Completely block out light from the bottom and sides of your substrate. use a black trash bag, cut to size, sterilize it with alcohol, and line your container with it before adding your mix.

DonClenzo

true but that's not completely why u see these guys on here with full canopies and think man mine is guna grow like that or next time I need more grain when the truth is that like their 5th transfer to agar. and ur tryna get there with a spore syringe. feel me

LuckyPQ

Sorry I'm completely new to shrooms and growing them I've only been researching grow kits, and i have absolutely no idea what this comment mean

timmyisserpico

Basically, they've taken tissue samples from one of their previous grows, put it in petri dishes that has a solidified mixture of agar (an algae that gels up real well), and malt extract. This acts as a nutrient source for mycelium to grow on. Then they'll take a sample of that agar plate, once it's colonized, and transfer it to other agar plates, and repeat the process, until they are confident they have an isolated strain of mycelium, then use that to inoculate their grain. This has an advantage over spore syringes, because spore syringes have tons of different genetic strains. That's why, on one hand you see some shrooms that are freakishly huge, and grows that have nice even canopies, and on the other you see ones that are kind of puny.

DonClenzo

grow kits!! lol man u are a newb aint ya. grow ur own sterilize ur grains and get sum syringes. the price u paid for that grow kit u could've got a 50lb bag of grains and did it urself. get sum injection ports off mycoposse u don't need the filters use micropore tape

LuckyPQ

It's my first time growing shrooms, i thought it be a nice place to start to get to know the terms and communities a little

DonClenzo

nah never stay or go there it's alot funner to do the same learning hands on. them kits are too easy. nothing beats getting bags or jars n filling them with a syringe

LuckyPQ

Are they a lot harder and more maintenance then the kits?

DonClenzo

kinda the same except u got to sterilize everything urself but it the learning experience thats guna benefit you in the long run

LuckyPQ

Thank you :)

DonClenzo

well good luck with ur grows bro.. its the same when people start the BRF cakes they get u stuck on them. I inoculate jars and grain bags to substrates in mono tubs thats the best way to go my opinion..

account4magic

Are you using micropore for your vent holes?

LuckyPQ

I'm using the vent holes that came with the kit, i don't know if they're micropore but I'll have a look when I get back

account4magic

The reason I asked, is because from my experience micropore does not allow enough fresh air. This can differ, and cubes are known to withstand lower oxygen level. When you see the caps try grow upwards rapidly while staying thin, you can assume its looking for oxygen, since CO2 is heavier and stays at the bottom.

FatherxJawn

What do you use instead of micropore for vent holes? I just recently harvested first flush of B+ and folks said more FAE. I was fanning twice a day but used micropore for vent holes. What’s your recommendation?

LuckyPQ

Also curious about this

account4magic

everybody is saying polyfil, but I had none and thought its not very aesthetic. Right now i'm using surgical masks, the cheaper ones. cut squares and taped over the holes! It works well, I also have a small fan to circulate the air around the tub. This is actually something I came up with, and I don't have many grows under my belt. I'm on my first cubensis (also GT) grow right now, and I only grew oysters before which are known for loving way more oxygen. could explain why micropore did not work in that case for me, and why I switched it. If I had to recommend something it would be polyfil, since many use it with high success. As I said this is my first time growing cubes, not sure if these masks are good in the long run. One thing I can say for sure, if you tape over your mouth with micropore and try to breathe, you won't be able to. It offers very little air exchange and its definitely way less than polyfill, which is very breathable.

Myco_Cube

They wanted more fresh air exchange

Serious-Magician3708

Alot of the grow kits are mass produced and don't have the best genetics. They are simply just little kits to get exactlt what you got, a little bit of mushrooms. If you want crazy ones find someone whos been doing it for a long time and ask tp purchase a spore syringe or LC.

LuckyPQ

Sadly I don't have someone in my environment that knows anything about growing mushrooms so i have to learn it all from scratch, i thought a growkit would be an okay place to start for learning mushrooms

SnooChickens8997

You can order quality spores or prints from SP0R3WORKS, or even go over to r/sporetraders to find a list of quality vendors,I actually found a really good spore vendor there and even offered to walk me through the whole process, sporeworks are syringes and they are good quality and have a good reputation, from what I heard it's better to put your spores to agar first to make sure no contam then transfer to grain, you can make your own agar plates or you can order from Amazon or Etsy, I prefer Amazon (super quick shipping) I actually ordered all my supplies from Amazon from PhillyGoldenTeacher post on YouTube, although I'm still at the innoculation stage on my first attempt ever I've been stalking these forums forever and absorbing as much info as possible....

Serious-Magician3708

Nono grow kits are deffinatly great to learn! They just generally don't have the craziest genetics so don't espect a huge yeild from most of them! They are amazing to start learning.

chronadthebarby

Strain probably, could be that variation

gucciiJesus

More O2 and maybe try different genetics

spraythewalls

More fresh air. That’s why they got so long. But hey you got fruits. Now time to touch up on your technique a little bit and you’ll have some nice flushes even without agar.

el-bow78

This is perfect, I just got my golden teacher in the mail so I’ll defo be looking to fan it more. Also, if you’re looking to do the whole process yourself through spore syringes (saw some people commenting that) definitely check out Uncle Ben Tek link below. After I get this first batch done I’ll be looking into that (was too impatient to do it now but it looks super simple) https://www.reddit.com/r/shrooms/comments/dbzy8e/uncle_ben_tek_aka_spiderman_tek_full_instructions/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

el-bow78

Also, how long did it take for first harvest? Did u use a heating mat?

LuckyPQ

If took me about 7 days! And i didnt use a heating mat :) also thank you for your comment!

mycomagick

Reading through this thread I can tell you started with 0 knowledge. In mycology you need knowledge..head over to youtube and look up these 4 individuals,,,Humble Fungus for the Hoodie Tek on bags as well as his info on advanced mycology, 90secondmycology for all of the basics as well as PhillyGoldenTeacher, and Willy Myco...you need to crunch research and fast. I spent around 9 months researching from these channels on YouTube and learned all I needed to know before starting. Everybody wants in on the cubensis action but aren't willing to get into the knowledge. All of these channels provide basics for beginners as well as solid info for advanced mycology. Go to YouTube you will find everything you need to know in one place.

LuckyPQ

Thank you! I will definitely put the time and energy into this, have a great day 🍄

mycomagick

No problem, it's worth it!

Local-Research-6765

Its all about climate what you manage in grow box, once i managed 23-28c near sunlight , made me 400-425g fresh shroomies. Moisture is also most important, it gives goodnjuces
