I scratched my Seamaster before I even left the store. Scratches tell a story about how much you love the watch. It’s the same thing with my wedding ring...beat to [email protected]&t, but well loved! Enjoy the watch, and enjoy the scratches 😎

Nath_198

Yeah I’m certainly trying to! It’s just there is a thought in the back of my mind that is constantly saying “there is a scratch there, and THERE!” I cant shake that thought, and like I said earlier, I LOVE the watch, hate what I’ve done to it. I’m sure I’ll shake it in time, and that time cant come quick enough haha!

TacmedRN4

It’ll get there...I can’t even tell when I put a new scratch in it!

Nath_198

Due to how scratched it is? Lol!

TacmedRN4

Yup!

Nath_198

God the thought of that happening to my speedy hurts.

TacmedRN4

Like I said, shows how much you love it! Watches are tools, after all.

Nath_198

I guess, hell ive orn my speedy more or less all day everyday since i got it in june haha!

Mercurin_n

They are jewelry too. If i scratch my nomos if would definetly bother me alot more than scratching an skx. A speedy would be kind of in between for me, also depends if im planning to keep it "forever" or it might get sold sometime and i want to preserve value.

Nath_198

Yeah well i am planning to keep my speedy forever as my parents bought it for my 21st!

Kamalligator987

I'm like this. My watch is fairly beat up, it doesn't bother me at all. Anything that is used will show wear and tear.

I remember I waited for months to get a Lorier Neptune last summer. When I finally got it I had worn it for about a week, and then bashed it straight into the corner of a metal cart at work. I was so bummed, it was a deep gouge right on the bezel. To this day I do still think about it, but it doesn't bother me. It's not too noticeable, and if anything it now allows me to wear my watch without worrying about getting it dinged up. Hardly anyone notices the watch you're wearing imo (only us watch geeks), and even then you'll only be able to see most dings right up close.

Nath_198

yeah I can’t really see the damage unless I intentionally look at it (the deeper scratch is far more apparent though) and I suppose I’m even more gutted, because this is my first ever luxury watch, if I dinged my, £400 citizen, I would be gutted but I manage to get over it. But my speedy, it’s, horrifying haha

bigblob27

I understand. Back when I bought it I was 18 and it was the most expensive watch I bought. I'm saving for a Rolex Explorer and dread to think about bashing up a $5k+ watch, but at the end of the day they're tools, or once were (the speedy and explorer at least). If it was a datejust or Calatrava or something dressy (and expensive) then yeah I'm going to baby it.

KidsGotSand

You can ever so lightly attempt to polish them. You may not be able to fully remove them but you can diminish their appearance.

Nath_198

I could do, but I’m not a very practical person so if I was going to do that, I would rather have a professional do it, I don’t trust myself lol!

abnormal_human

You're not going to harm anything with 5-10 mins and a cape cod cloth, and you might substantially improve the appearance. I've had some scratches that almost completely disappeared with minimal polishing with the cloth because, as it turns out, sometimes part or all of the scratch's appearance is from material transferred from the object that the watch collided with. I'd absolutely do it. You have nothing to lose, and even if it doesn't 100% disappear the scratch, it may render it far less noticeable.

Wink-

I have a ding on the bezel of my Speedmaster moonwatch. That little blemish tells me that this amazing timepiece is mine and noone else's.

Nath_198

Yeah i guess. I definately need to look at the scratches on mine in a more positive way, as rn, the scratches are eating me up lol

psychotherapistLCSW

It's like falling in love with a great partner; you look past their flaws and know you're the only one who knows the story behind their idiosyncrasies. Look past the scratches and you see why you fell in love with the watch. Enjoy!

I couldn’t even dream of using a Rolex to scratch a car lol!

LePupJames

So I wore my Speedy on a metal bracelet for a couple of months and man has the clasp got a lot of scratches. But like the rest said, the scratches tell stories.

Nath_198

Yeah im just trying to convince myself of this and enjoy my speedy despite the damage ive caused. Also im not too bothered by scratches on the bracelt as i could judt swap it with another. Its scratches to the case and face, that urk me.

toxicavenger70

If you are gutted from a few scratches then maybe it is time to sell it before you jump off a bridge.
