The other guy is an idiot. If you want a good race, find a league or something. Looking at his behaviour before I don't think anyone would blame you. Kinda nice to see him get his comeuppance at the end.
Edit: he's clearly just trying to ram you on the last 2 corners.
Thanks for the reply, it was a bit annoying because up until that point he was racing with me fairly well, not too sure why he decided to race dirtier.
Sometimes it can be a bit difficult to judge these things in the heat of the moment. Maybe he thought you were pushing too much? You had a decent overlap coming into the first corner of the clip and he tried to close the door a bit late. Second corner you were smart and let him fly through missing the apex completely (maybe while he was aiming for you?) and pulled the cutback off well. Fully alongside as he tried to push you off the track to the left side.
Uh... what are you on about?
Its a bit late for me. If you brake as soon as you complete the slide to cover the line, its too late.
Though, I don't really accredit that as the reason why he crashed.
IMO, just don't do it again or get to cover the line quicker. If your momentum carries you to the edge of the track and you can't get down in time to cover so be it, chopping across will only create conditions for a wreck.
The rest of the clip just looks like hard racing, some rubbing yes, but you both seemed well enough in control of your cars to say there wasn't really anything wrong with it.
Note -- I'm generally a lot more lenient when it comes to games like Gran Turismo as you guys look like you're on control and the pin point precision isn't always there. Not to mention the damage model is pretty lenient.
Nah this orange car was just a bit of an asshole here, very clearly shows him not giving space on the track and then a short bit later ramming from behind, its on him.
Just because there's rubbing doesn't let you just cut across someone in the braking zone.
Idk man, yeah they clip together on exit of the corner a little bit before, but moving like that in the braking zone is just a no-no. I mean, really OP got super lucky buddy didn't just decide to punt him off.
Didn’t actually move under braking, just changed my line last minute… you can see my brake lights go on once I have finished moving across

Not once did I accuse you of changing lane while braking, however, that doesn't make it clear. The whole point of racing principals such as moving in the braking zone or having overlap before turn in to claim the right to be given space side by side exist is because you are obligated to not change the conditions of the race after your opponent commits to a decision. If you move right before the point that you brake you change the options that are available to the driver right before they make their decision to commit to the brakes. This causes conditions for an accident.
The reason why I said you weren't at fault for him hitting the barrier is because it seems he committed to brake right before you did so he didn't have to correct his actions.
