Read Overcoming Unwanted Intrusive Thoughts. In a nutshell, you don't want to focus on stopping, changing, or blocking your thoughts - but accepting them. Sounds stupid. It's life changing - trust me. I've been there.
My therapist said that as well, I was told to cope with them. I works to an extent, but I was wondering if you could change them. Almost in a way to make you a better person, kinda like using them to your advantage.
I guess it can be a mindful way to look at the thoughts and think - "in one sense or another, my brain is awesome at thinking." Just make sure that the way your brain tries to tell you to use the thought as an advantage isn't a compulsion in itself...
