I have not! I did some research on it but i just thought eh I'm gonna try something and see if it works! I'm not exactly experienced yet but you gotta try stuff and start somewhere right?
Never seen this in 15 years of mushroom growing. It might work if you keep them well hydrated but contamination might be an issue. It certainly looks cool.

Have any photos of these fruiting?
Nope just wanted to share these logs i just prepared
Shiitake fruit well on oak. Is this oak? Min diameter is about 4 inches. You want the bark on oak logs too, for longevity and moisture retention.
They're beech logs, i wanted them with bark but i couldn't find any with bark, i soak them regularly to make sure they're moist.
Cool. Good luck.
Thank you!!

Have you tried this before? It's a cool idea imo. Hope it works out.

You think right, mushroom cultivation calls for a bit of experimentation!
That's right. Good luck!
In worried that they Will dry out like that. But good experiment - for science 👍
:) i keep them moist as best as I can, i also soak them in a bath overnight once a month.

just a suggestion, but you could possibly install a porch mister to keep them hydrated and cool (including you)

They look very thin to stay hydrated, though if the humidity in the area is very high this may not be as much a problem.
I’m definitely skeptical but you never know.
