Where’s your drink?

AugustWest7120

I think that’s the tweed blues jr, next door? What do you think between the two. As in, pros/cons to each? I have the BJ and am very very seriously looking at the PR. Thanks in advance!

I will say this- I walked into the guitar store fully planning on getting a new guitar and I walked out with a Princeton reverb. It’s just such a softer sound than the blues jr. Only con I could think of is that it can be a little loud, but it works just as well on lower volumes as a blues jr.

Expensive_Goooose

That’s a great way to put it. BJR is not truly what we refer to as a “Fender” sound. The Princeton is lush, warm, round, sparkly, dynamic, responsive. The BJR had more pronounced mids, and wayyyy less dynamic.

Lush is a good way to explain it. It’s an incredible amp and a good price for what it is. Real good. I do like the BJ to rip it up lol. Bluesy grit. But for jazz and so clean/ambient stuff, the Princeton is prime.

Thanks so much

Nice amp. I want one badly. That’s the limited edition Bordeaux with the 12” Jensen right?

huoliver

Best Fender tube amp I’ve owned. Sold my DRRI to get this one. Awesome.

Expensive_Goooose

I have 2 DRRIs I run together. But I really want to add one of these. Would you say it’s worth getting one? I’m worried it would be too much of the same same?

huoliver

The PRRI is very close to the Normal channel of the DRRI, but with reverb and vibrato. I never cared for the bright cap on the DRRI.

Expensive_Goooose

I snipped my bright caps. I’m thinking that they might be too close in sound to justify the purchase. And I can’t seem to part with either of my DRRIs.

huoliver

Probably so. Had I clipped the caps, I probably would have kept the Deluxe.

extraordinaryevents

Yep. Although I wouldn’t know that if the guy at the store hadn’t mentioned it. I was just thrilled that the Bordeaux one was used and at a really nice discount. Didn’t even realize beforehand that it has a better speaker than the normal PR.

Expensive_Goooose

Whatcha pay? I love a story of a good deal

extraordinaryevents

$999. Walked in prepared to pay $1300 for the regular. Was pleasantly surprised when they said they had a used available and it was in the Bordeaux color.

BadpoorJ

Great purchase. I have the same exact amp and love it.

ajgil

Nice amp and beautiful guitar! I’m looking to buy a Stratocaster just like that! The tortoise shell pickguard goes so well with the white body.

dkinoz

I have this same amp (mine has the sorta floral pattern burgundy tolex, same 12” Jensen) and I loooove it. Favourite amp I’ve ever had and I have owned / do own some nice amps.
