It would help to see or know the recipe. If it's a slow cooker, it may be okay though hard to provide guidance if we don't know the method or recipe you're using. You mention potatoes and carrots are in a slow cooker 'as well' but is that on the side and just noting the veggies or is everything in one pot?
Everything is in the pot. I put the seasoning, onion, garlic, carrots, potatoes, and a mix of beef broth and water. I’ll add the cabbage in a couple hours.
Ok, since it's in a slow cooker, I'd cook it as you would have originally. Just keep an eye and if you have a clear lid as most do, just check it about 3 hours in. It may cook faster since it's cut up versus being whole. Remember when you check it, to add 20 minutes when you lift the lid as the heat goes down so it need the time to get back up to temp.
It matters very little when it comes to a crock pot. The only thing that cubing changes is that it might shave off like an hour of your time. Otherwise it doesn't matter.
