I sure hope it's Ajax.

Younger player with potential wants to leave bottom dwellers? \*Shocked Pikachu Face\* Hopefully he doesn't burn bridges with the club/fans, but it's for Pepi's best developmental interest to be traded away in January.

I think it's partially the recognition that there are always risks from turning down offers, including injury.

I don't think it is any different of all the others who have left FC Dallas...I don't know why they slant it like Pepi is asking to leave and all the others were sold on by the club. I wonder if there is backlash from the fans toward FC Dallas and thats why the deflection

Not traded, transferred. To a European country.

Traded... But for cash.

Cash Considerations

And a player to be named later

I heard Bayern were offering Kimmoch and a future second round pick.

Pepi for Ben Simmons and 3 future firsts who says no?

FC Dallas fans (I am one) have no problems with players wanting to move to Europe. Or at least, good fans don't. There are some who seem to think MLS is a destination league, and players are traitors for wanting to move to a top 5 league in the world. I just want to get 1-2 seasons of starting play from our young Academy kids, and then they can go on their way. It's up to the shitty front office to start signing talented players in positions of need, and not at our academy strengths. Stop signing central mids.

This isn't shocking news. This is routine for FC Dallas. Dallas's plan was to sell Pepi in the Winter, but have the contract negotiated to where he leaves after this MLS season is over. With the way FC Dallas' season is going, Pepi has decided he wants to leave sooner rather than later to capitalize on his current hype. All power to him. FC Dallas should not be bother by his decision as it only slightly expedites the original plan.

Ricardo Pepi has approached the FC Dallas front office to request a transfer away from the club in the forthcoming January window, sources have told 90min. Literally the first paragraph of the article

Well yeah I'm completely aware of that. Hence my entire 2nd paragraph about Pepi wanting to leave sooner

FCD fans: First time, huh?

Wow that’s not something to be taken lightly… Pepi really wants out now if true

He probably just doesn’t want them playing around like how Orlando City did with Dike.

I don’t blame him at all

I’m not sure it’s too much of a story, honestly. Everyone knows he’s getting sold by at least the winter, but maybe he’s pushing something through now that he likes.

Yeah I'm not really sure if I 100% trust how this is being framed. When he signed that extension we all knew it was so FCD would get paid. Then him finishing out the season and leaving in the winter makes complete sense. This makes it sound like he's suddenly forcing the team's hand, which doesn't make much sense with what we already know, especially with FCD's selling history.

It will be very interesting to see where he goes and how much he plays right out of the gate. We’re only 12 months away from a World Cup and he certainly doesn’t want to be riding a bench in Europe when he could ride into the WC off a great MLS season.

He has to think long term for his career, not just about the 2022 World Cup. He’d be better off at a Champions League or Europa League team that he’d be at an MLS team

Watch GGG start Zardes over him if he leaves the MLS.

Quit with the tired false narrative. It was made clear last window that Pepi is ahead. Zardes only played the middle game for rest/load management.

aww like sargent didn't get a ridiculous run out.

If he goes somewhere where he doesnt play I disagree if he goes somewhere where he starts then yeah but he need playing time that's the singular most important thing currently

How has MLS stance on this type of thing changed since, say.....when Taylor Twellman attempted to take control of his career back in the day?

Call me crazy--but I don't get the whole Pepi craze. That's how desperate we are for a savior.

Kid bangs goals. That's what we need.

who's your number 9? with him, we have hope at least until he shows us otherwise

Scored 5 points in his first 4 USMNT games. Scored a goal every other game as an 18 year old on one of the worst teams in MLS this year. Avging a .71 G+A/90 as well in MLS as an 18 year old. People are crazy on this sub for not getting he is producing at a level NONE of our prior prospects have produced at the same age and against better competition to boot. How about this context: Jozy at 18 in 2007 - 22 Games, 9 goals/3 Assists - in a WAY WEAKER MLS Sargent in 18/19 when he was 18 - 7g/2a in the bundesliga 4 in 12 games, then 2 goals in the full Bundesliga in 10 games. Gyasi - Didnt make it to the MLS until he was 22 and put up 4g/4a in 30 pro games that year.

If he doesn’t surpass those guys I would be shocked.

Eddie Johnson? He put up crazy numbers real early on. I think Pepi is maybe the best #9 prospect we've ever had but it's for sure not a guarantee that he'll get much better. Jozy, Johnson, Agudelo, Davis were all super promising and never reached what they could have for different reasons. He's not a sure thing and this next move is super important

Fabian Johnson? Edit - why y’all downvoting me, i simply want to know what Johnson you’re talking about lmao edit: oh shit the guy said Eddie Johnson in his original post and i’m just slow, please go ahead and downvote away 😂

thanks sir

Did Zardes play striker when he first entered MLS?

He's literally tied for the most goals scored in Concacaf 3rd round right now.

18 years old scoring against grown men, he's good!

There are maybe four clubs worth playing for in the MLS
