Using the anxiety or fear of children in service of climate change initiatives is borderline abusive
By - MR_TELEVOID
It's not just arbitrary fear mongering, tho. The reality of climate change is is just terrifying and sugar coating "because of the children" won't do anybody any good.
As far as I have seen time and time again, calling out people who are not doing anything about climate change caused desensitization to the fears of it. It is certainly possible to discuss it without acting hopeless, but that seems to be the general narrative.
There's a difference between not sugarcoating and fearmongering.
It’s not like the adults give a shit…at least the kids have a stake in this
It's not borderline abusive it is abuse
Yeah the world is depressing and there's no hope left for our species
If you don't want kids to learn that, stop having them. Teaching kids how to be ignorant so they can be happy is how we got here, and how we ended up with generation after generation of adults too fucking useless to fix it
At this point we're getting what we deserve. If anything teach the kids that
The species will be fine either way, lol.
Whatever you want to tell yourself, delusion is always easier
Climate change alarmists unironically believe that humanity as a whole will cease to exist, lol. What next, the planet will blow up?
Someday, but it'll be another ten or twenty generations each existing in a world worse than the last first
If you're under 25 you don't even know what a pleasant summer feels like. Don't pretend this is a problem for the far future, this is already turning the world to shit
>If you're under 25 you don't even know what a pleasant summer feels like.
The fuck? You're unironically delusional. Summers haven't changed at all where I live.
How little attention have you been paying?
Imagine confusing weather and climate.
Yeah, that's what you're doing
You can go anecdotal, you can go by raw numbers of temperature trends, or you can go by what literally 99% of climate scientists agree on.
Either way you don't have anything resembling a case. Biggest contributor to climate change denial is fear and an inability to face the grim reality, and that's an established fact
Ok, prove me with numbers that summers changed where I live. I won't tell you where I live, you told me that I haven't experienced a pleasant summer, which means that you know where I live.
Massive difference between being ignorant and trying to give your kids mental health issues. You can teach kids about climate change and what we need to do to fix it, and how we are making those changes. But to tell them that the worlds fucked and they are going to die in a fiery inferno helps no one. It just creates a generation of depressed doomers.
We aren't fixing it, we're not even making a dent
Are there fixes that could still work in time? Yeah. But it'll take a generation of depressed doomers to stomach them
I mean that’s just incorrect. We can do a lot more but the leaps forward that have taken place in green energy even in just the past 5 years have been astronomical.
If you want people to change you need to show them the benefits of change. Telling them they are all going to die doesn’t actually do much, we have tried that. But telling them we can live in a world with more jobs that are higher paying and return higher investments gets people excited.

If people don't want kids to be afraid, then they shouldn't have made the world a scary place.
Yes let's keep kids in a bubble, that way when they grow up and get to the real would, they won't be able to handle it..............
Also the truth hurts. This is the way we can have a generation that will actually do something about the climate
You can talk to a child about what they can do to help without the doom narrative.
You might find [Hope for the Planet](https://hope-for-the-planet.tumblr.com/) on Tumblr helpful; they talk about climate anxiety a bunch.
Because pretending everything is fine has given my generation so much motivation to make change /s
