I hope so, otherwise she would just be poorly written.

HeronGood

I just believe that she is only interested in the greatest profit. If she just wants to make a lot of money, that can explain all of her actions. or she is just Mephisto

SP1570

It is a real possibility, but it sounds weird that a Skrull would be interested in lining up buyers for weapons technology...

theinvisiblefil

Can Skrulls replicate superpowers? No. If they are to attempt an invasion would they need superpowers to overcome the incumbent heroes? Yes.

SP1570

Possibly with the serum (though not sure it works on alines), but inconsistent with her "excitement" during the last call when she's got access to weapons from what I assume it's a much less advanced tech vs what they have...

1funnyfish

would erase her entire evolution as a character. just say you're taken aback by the fact that she's no longer a one dimensional love interest and go...

theinvisiblefil

If anything, it allows Emily to play with the character and afterwards, if the real Sharon is returned, she’s got a new dimension to use; she might even be able to both simultaneously. Actors love that shit. Sharon’s first appearance was meant to fool us into thinking she would be a 1D love interest and within her next scenes in TWS and CW she proved herself otherwise. If anything the kiss in CW did more to damage her character. But I trust Marvel: everything they do is good and I’m sure it’ll play out exactly as planned.

Seriously, why do so many people want her to be a Skrull? She was a minor character who barely got any development over two movies, and was just there as Steve's potential love interest. Suddenly she became important and interesting and the studio starts to fresh out her character. Then everyone want to cancel all that character development by making it not actually her in the first place? That will just be bad writing. If anyone is a Skrull, I would want that to be someone who already had their character freshed out and they continued to act exactly as they always had, or someone who was never really freshed out and was in the background, but important enough to the main characters. Potential candidates include War Machine, Agent Woo, Torres, some of the Wakandans, Ned, etc.

theinvisiblefil

I don’t *want* her to be a Skrull but one thing 42 years of popular culture have taught me is that, if a character flips their moral compass so dramatically, they’ve been compromised somehow. Given that Secret Invasion is going to be a thing it makes sense that some of our existing characters will be replaced. Sharon was a stalwart good guy, as demonstrated in Winter Soldier and Civil War. She believed in the same things Steve did. For her to suddenly start an underground superpower broker service to the highest bidder is completely against character. We’re expected to believe it because the US government exiled her, but it would take more than to see such a dramatic shift. She’s definitely a Skrull. She would have been replaced post-Civil War. Furthermore, it allows Emily Vancamp to play a bigger part and a range of drama in the MCU, without being a Maria Hill-type sidekick. Skrull. You heard it here first.

Xygnux

It's only completely against character if we neglect that there is a seven years time gap between the time we last saw her in 2016 and now in 2023. A lot can happen in seven years. You may be right that, based on pop culture experience, she can be a Skrull. But I will still think it's bad writing and a complete waste of a character if they do that for the reasons I stated above. Like ohhh someone needs to be an imposter, let's make it someone who was so brand and in the background, and only became interesting because she's a Skrull! So all the new traits you like about her never existed. I know they have to replace some of the existing characters, and I listed several suggestions above about who should be replaced and not make it so off-putting.

I don’t want her to be a Skrull but I feel like we didn’t get enough screen time to fully understand her heel face turn, mostly bc this show has a verbal exposition problem (too much talking, not enough showing). Hopefully they’ll continue to expand on her philosophies these days in something like Armor Wars. FYI, it’s “fleshed out” not “fresh”. :) like adding muscle and skin to a skeleton, more whole and complete.

Xygnux

Thanks for reminding me! Now I'll go hide in a hole because I think I typed "fresh out" in so many comments today. -_-'

If anyone else points it out, lie and tell them it’s because the keys are close together. They’re not, but it’s fun to confuse people sometimes.
