When I was 23 and fresh out of college, my parents sold my car and then yelled at me every time I asked to borrow their car. They also charged me $700 a month for rent and then complained that I wasn't saving up to buy a car.
Move away from your parents
Did that years ago.
I like your username bro
A bit cringe tho (still one of my top 3 characters)
What’s the other 2?
garou (opm) and guts(berserk)
Sorry I made this username when is was 13
YOUR car? Lol you were able to afford your own car by 23? That's pretty cool.
Yeah, it was only 1,500. I bought it in high school. Short version of the story is that my parents bought it, put it in their name, and I paid them back for it. But since it was in their name, they had the 'right' to sell it. So they got rid of it because they didn't want it on 'their' property anymore.
Assuming this isn't a biased story, I think you might wanna detach yourself from your "parents" soon. They feel toxic.
He covered this an hour before you commented :)
even if it was completely gifted thats fucked. when you gift someone something thats it, its theirs out of a trust of bond like in any functional relationship.
to go back on that and be like "well i payed for it" is toxic.
Welcome to my life lol. Everything was always held over my head. YOU HAVE A ROOF THANKS TO ME SO BE MY FUCKING SERVANT!
parent asking for rent wtf?
Wish it was asking lol. Demanded. Then when I lost my job my dad said go on unemployment or get out. Sooooo I got out.
they dont deserve to be called parents
No they do not. That's just one of countless stories I have about them unfortunately. They also committed identity theft against me too. Fun times.
Sue your parents. Then disown them.
Was told by my lawyer that I can't sue the dead lol. My first thought was go after my dad but he died before all of this got worse.
Shit man. I hope you doin okay
They just became criminals right?
What fucking parent does that Jesus Christ. Hope you are better now
Much better now. Dad's dead and mom fled the country lol.
Go outside and get beat up by other kids like I did at your age /jk
Sure you’re joking?
You ok bro?
No as in no i actually built a death ray and i am gonna destroy everyone for making my life so bad
No as in no i am not
I do not care what is happening. I am the 69th upvote
Man beating up teens because their pants are down and hoods are on sure is fun! Good ol days...
Same too me
I was 6'3 at 11 lol. Wish I had gotten beaten up instead.
Been at it when I was 6 I didn't want to go out after that but I had to
I am 14 and this is - actually this is kinda sad. I need more friends...
Friend inflation. Back in my day one was enough
BaCk In My DaY
We ran around with the kids in school and beat each other with STICK that was our fun
... kids these days/s
Fun fact, I used to do that too. Then my parents banned us from even looking at sticks ;w;👍
Same here, we did it all the time in recess. And then hid the sticks and ran away when the teachers/principal came
I miss recess stick battles with a fondness
You dont got no friends ?
So u mean covid is ur only friend or
What has voting to do with getting a life?
Taxation without representation dawg
Hello, sir! Would you like to be fucked with a cactus or a steel toilet brush? Your vote counts!
Toilet brush pls
Saw an episode on why voting is bad and your vote does not matter. At the end the host says it is really important. Since every episode explains why it's not that bad. This one didn't. I have lost all hope in america(other countries are non existent. They have moved on from this state)
They’re 14, they aren’t paying taxes
But like, taxation doesn‘t *directly* influence whether you have hobbies, friends or interests, that is to say in the words of op, „a life“.
Neither does representation, mostly, unless your hobby is politics, which I guess is fair, but you can still do protesting etc as a minor so even then you could still follow those interests, albeit to a lesser extend.
Being a member of society maybe?
Nah man everybody here giving reasons, voting has nothing to do with having a life dawg
A note to the wise OP: if you are a kid on Reddit and try to post a relatable meme, you’ll most likely get a flood of people saying you don’t know what bad is, which may or not be true. For the future, just post these types of things in the teenager /r’s just for your own sake lol
r/teenagers is bad let's be honest, it's only relatable to teenagers in the US, not from other countries, and most if it is filled with reposted memes and people saying they finally got a girlfriend
My post below this is someone in teenagers saying they got a gf
LOL, told you
You are a psychic
a psychic I am, you are my young jedi
Mine is “Super Mortio” 💀
Oh I know it’s bad, I’m just looking g out for the OP
Not really most of the memes are relatable to me as well while I am not from the US
yeah but depends where you are from, I'm from a developing country where a lot of the ideas in the US dont really work, not to mention most people on that sub argue and complain over if their PCs, phones, and expensive items are not up to date, that just sucks because there are people who camt even afford a PC, or a phone, and the items they usually have on that sub are good ones, nothing horrible or bad, I also get the memes, but most of them are reposts that I've seen before so its annoying
I'd recommend op to actually NOT post anything in a glorified child predator hangout group.
being a 14 year old in india is more fucked cuz the grandpas here say "i was running my own buisness when i was your age" every time u see them and just makes u hate yourself 0\_0
Yeah i'm not from India (Also 14) but my dad keeps telling me: "When I was your age I already knew how to drive."
But I mean... I can't learn it nowadays since we live in a city now instead of an isolated farm where no one could see anything like he used to.
>When I was your age I already knew how to drive.
Lemme take the damn car then!
He says I should try driving but then again people will see it and it's illegal lol. On top of that I'll probably just end wrecking an electricity post with the car.
Go to a parking lot. That's how I learned. Also, playing driving games did their part as well.
My father says that he knew how to drive at my age (16) but. He 1, lost my car keys and 2, has taught me jack about driving
You missed the biggest part of it- the fucking marks you have to get. You can literally get 90+ in all subjects and it won’t be enough to get the best college. Not even grading system, just marks
over fucking population
True....I also live there and I swear, COMPARISON IS GOD FREKING DAMN GOD IN INDIA, IF I HAD 9-10 NUKES I WOULD ALL LAUNCH EM ON INDIA! THEY HAVE REPLICAS OF TIKTOK AND DO THAT ALL THE DAY! THEY FUGGING COMPARE EVERYONE!!!!! so yea...that's true...
jokes on you I stay in the living room instead because the wall plug in mine is behind a heavy cabinet
Me at 24 who doesn’t have a life and just says alone in my house and plays video games because I have anxiety and depression.
Then there comes
Back in my day we used to do this and that so i asked may i do so? And no
me but im 29
When I was a kid my grandma yelled at me for staying inside but then yelled at me for asking to go outside untill eventually she locked me out of the house while it snowed, I hate adults sometimes dude
Also, it's hard to get around when you don't have a car in America and Canada. We need to fix public transit and zoning laws. The Netherlands has the happiest kids because they can actually get around without needing to get rides from their parents.
Is that a Not Just Bikes fan I see?
Someone's been watching Not Just Bikes
"trapped in school for 7 hours a day"...with a full-time job things will get even worse xD
>with a full-time job things will get even worse xD
Atleast you get paid
At least a 14 year old doesn’t have to buy their own food, internet, utilities, clothes, insurance, gas, rent/mortgage
That's a pro and con at the same time, if the provider stops or lost his job, the teen cant do anything about it, the adult too, but he at least has the oportunity to fix it, the teen not
And the pay goes to your basic survival with not much leftover for buying fun things you like
It also goes to retirement and emergency funds because you have to take care of yourself
>And the pay goes to your basic survival with not much leftover for buying fun things you like
I mean.. Depends on how much you get paid
Over twice minimum wage
"Trapped in school" everything considered school was literally the best time of your (and possibly everyone's) life. Because no matter how school was, the real life WILL suck harder. So even shitty school feels like a great time such is life
No school has higher anxiety and depression rates than actual jobs. For a lot of people school genuinely is the lowest it gets.
I would have agreed 4-6 years ago but honestly it's much worse being an adult most of the time (atleast in my case anyways). Adulting sucks.
At least you don’t have homework and don’t need to study, cause let’s be honest, that’s the worst part by far
"why are you always at home"
"ok fine can i go to (friend's name)'s house"
"no there is covid you cant go out"
I feel you bro, good thing my school has a class to help with mental health
Stay strong bud. The freedom is so worth it once you're able to get it. Only a few more years
My mom said she had the right to take a portion of my brother's paycheck if and when he got a job(while still under their roof ofc,) but they ended up not letting him get a job at all
Every job I could do requires me to drive to it, I can't drive so I would need my mom too. She would never agree to that because she hates driving.
Even if I learned to drive, we have only 1 car. And she hates it when anyone but her uses it.
I have to deal with all that bs, and they don't understand why I want to have some time to sit in my quiet room.
Some comments here are just amazing
"Back in my day we used to play games like "beat the donny up" where we beat this one kid we knew up with a baseball bat"
that what bad parents do this day
they don't want you to enjoy your time then getting mad at you
they want you to move but never ask you to helping chore or something
Uff, somehow it's terrible too to have to attend to virtual classes from home; as an introvert (kinda) now not even my bedroom is a safe place to relax anymore...
I wrote a book about what happens to kids that have to go through life like that.
Plot twist: bad things.
What’s the book?
It’s callled Killer’ Forest (by Ellington Norris). It’s a thriller/coming of age set in colonial Pennsylvania. I like to brag that it is the only psychological thriller/coming of age/historical fiction that has ever been written, as I have yet to find another.
That's what my parents told my sister. So she stayed out longer and did not come home very often. They got mad at her and told her to come home more often.
\- 14 years old. Ok, does being 14 now mean you don't get to have friends? I haven't been one in a while so I don't know if anything's changed.
\- "Can I leave the house?" Checkmate, parents.
\- Mowing lawns, raking leaves, helping older neighbors, odd jobs. Again, it's been awhile for me, if these aren't things anymore you could always make songs on MySpace?
\- 'Trapped' in school eh? Yeah, I feel you there. Learning is SOOOO lame. Definitely no way to meet new people or try out any extra-curriculars or anything.
\- Being pressured by everyone. Yeah, this one I get, seriously. You're at a time when you're trying to figure out who you are and you've got people who figured that shit out thirty years ago yelling at you to do it faster. Only advice I've got is to work on being happy/content with who you are first before doing anything else, it'll save you some heartache and therapy bills later.
You think that’s bad? Wait till you get older
This is another thing I hate, people act like you're problems are invalid because you haven't experienced much at that time in your life yet, and say the "wait till you get older" and completely discredit any issue you have.
And sure it can get worse but that doesn't mean you're problems aren't valid.
(No offense against you it's just something I had heard throughout my life and I've always despised it.)
The years start coming and they don’t stop coming
But the meteor men beg to differ
Something about a sati-light picture
So just because you might have it harder, that means that it cancels out how he feels? Nope.
When you can leave the house whenever you want, can get a job, can vote and don’t have to stay trapped in school for 7 hours a day?
sorry to disapoint you, but you now stay stuck on work 8-9 hours a day plus comute, is too tired to do anything, and have no money to do so, life asint easy, its not shit, but if you think you gonna have a lot of free time in your adult years you more likely wont
I love all these kids arguing with adults as if the people saying their adult experiences haven’t also experienced school lmao
The issue for me is how abusive the school system is, I was at a mental breaking point and the school just did Jack sh*t when I started to break down in more ways than one. Had a teacher who actively antagonized me last year, no reasoning either, I got yelled at for thinking something out.
I know how that goes, my teacher was more concerned about me saying "fuck Ashley" then said Ashley mockng and bashing a kid to the point were he said "I should just k**l myself"
Can really tell who the teacher likes more
I mean yes but being subjected to that at 15?
But you can choose your work place, where you live, the roles you will accept and the opportunity to take loans and try starting a business or going to higher education. It is a fact that children have less autonomy than adults.
Wait 24 hour shifts?
Sheesh the longest i ever stayed up is like 36 hours and puked afterwards i imagine you dont get the position alot
I'm older. This is a myth. Things will never be worse than high school + job or sports. College is easier than high school. They will tell you 8 hours of homework for each hour of class which is laughable. Also once you get a career the more you get promoted the less you do.
>*I'm older. This is a myth. Things will never be worse than high school + job or sports.*
Im also older and I disagree. Adult problems are much worse than high school problems. For starters, HS problems only last a few years but a job can be decades of drudgery.
but the media men beg to differ
ah yes, itll be worse in the future so the present doesnt matter
it gets better. around 18 to 25ish. them are the great years. set urself up for them and then use them wisely. 25-30 is also good. I feel like then it's a slow decline 😂
That's funny because i go fcked over by the guy running my school (he simply didn't like me), he made my life college hell, until he made me quit at the end of the third year. Had to start college all over again at 21 with quit a depression on my hands. My 18 to 30 will suck and all that time wasted financialy, (even tho i work on the side) will make the rest of it suck as well. It doesn't get better for everyone unfortunately.
So do you cope somehow? Just checking in because that kinda situation can get nasty
Coffee, video games and thrash/death metal
I mean that doesn't work very well either but it's something rather than nothing
I'm 21 and I have the same life as you 🤣😭
Me to bro,
I mean this is basically working a full time job.
You’re constantly being pushed to do better by some arbitrary measurement
You stay inside because you’re too exhausted to do anything and you’re constantly wondering if you can actually afford to do the things you wanna do
Don’t worry. Life is easier in your twenti-
Then your parents will be confused if take your own or someone else's life, like they ordered.
You really can’t walk to places by yourself?
I can't , cuz i don't have friends or money and my city is hot af
Do they not have trees? No patios? Not even shadow from a building?
Instructions unclear, fucked over my life
I’m 15 and would rather stay in my room all day than have friends
Hmm,we definitely have something in common.
Want advice ?
14 is just a shitty time of life, and it's shitty for everyone. Embrace it, realize that even though it feels like everyone else has it figured out and knows how to navigate it they don't. Make mistakes, take risks, put yourself out there and don't care what everyone else thinks of you. Just be the person you want to see in the mirror and don't worry about anything else. As long as you're not out killing people or having babies it's the last time in your life you won't have any major concequences.
Why is this an accurate representation of my life?
I guess drugs?
Do you need to talk, bud? Is everything okay?
yeah parents are very often hypocritical
same situation with me, mostly
Objection you CAN get a job when ur 14 it just depends on the place and the manager. Look it up online there are some rules but I'm going for a interview today for 300$ a week (I can give more info if what just reply I'll answer) you can also get a job at 15 which offers more pay and hours you can legally work. At 16 you are free to go for almost any job unless a certain age is required.
My life is the same way except, I'm 13. :/
I'm 16, closing in on 17. Trust me, nothing gets better.
I'm 24. Still there. Nothing really gets better
Mood, my parents always say to talk to people, but how am I supposed to talk to people when I’m in school *working* and besides I always feel like I’d be that weird guy who butts into conversations and isn’t really wanted there
This is my entire social life exemplified in one statement.
Read a book learn an instrument gotta say i wish i had all the time i had when i was fourteen now to do those things
bruh just ask for permission and go hang out with friends... TrApPeD In ScHoOl... bruh 7 hours is nothing, school is literally the best part of your life for a while. do your homework and study properly or get a hobby that will make you a living in the future. shit's gonna get harder, prepare yourself. but don'tmake a victim out of yourself.
Just wait till you’re an adult
She means hang out with friends more and stop raising the electric bill so high with your full RGB gaming setup to look at reddit
Edgy boy be like:
hEs UnDeR prEsSurE
No, seriously. Stop making memes and go get one
downvoted for speaking facts
Today was my bday and I turned 14 too :)
When I was you’re age I was already 15
When I was your age I had already lost my sanity and addicted to coffee
You good man?
People say that childhood is the best time of your life. It fucking sucks.
same time, same sufferings
“Sounds like a bunch of excuses!”
I felt this in my soul and now I’m crying
You want me to sit in the garden and breathe or what
Drugs!! Go do drugs
Enjoy being 14
I'm 18 now and still feel that way :)
Lmao, this is so much relatable to me...
whyy do you want to vote or get a job at 14. Job i sorta get but why vote
You are bery correct about this. You are still a kid, and you shouldn't focus on "getting a life" but on surviving school with the best grades you can, while maybe maintaining a social life as connections are very useful later in life. You still have around 60 years to live if you are statistically average, so that's more than 4 times what you have lived up to this point.
Stop making excuses
This post is dumb and you're dumb
im already a cultured man if u know what i mean🤔🤨
