Any project ideas that are similar to temperature blankets/scarves/etc. but for something other than temperature? (ie. where something else is incorporated into the project)

There’s that person who recorded late train times in their city with a scarf. Edit: [link](https://www.dw.com/en/german-train-delay-scarf-sells-for-thousands-at-auction/a-47080140)

moth-bee

That's amazing,, I may have to consider doing something like that when I start commuting to university in person again, haha

CassetteTapeCryptid

Yikes, that giant red bit in the middle....What happened there?

Omigosh a 12 color blanket each representing a music note, knit with a black strand held double for down an octave, white for up, knit a song. Lol I'm doing this!

moth-bee

OMG such a good idea!!

heynonnynonnomous

Ooh, I want to see this!

magenta_wizard

I saw a blanket with the color pattern was chosen second to the sleep pattern of the newborn baby. Mood temperature blanket also (like a color for the general mood for the day from very sad to very happy for example). I guess someone could do their losing weight journey into a scarf / blanket (with different color for different weight, or different color for the weight lost from a day to another...) For music, you could do a color for a key (a bit like kid pianos or xylophones). Here are some ideas

moth-bee

Thanks for all these, they're actually quite helpful, and inspire even more ideas

CynR06

I was just thinking mood, it would get very colorful during certain times of the month😂

magenta_wizard

Ahaha that's true 😂

Knitting for how long people talk in a meeting (this woman did for how long men vs women talked at a council meeting) https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/news/blogs-trending-48278772.amp

moth-bee

I remember hearing about this! Such an interesting idea... lots of potential

Desert_Valkyrie

IDK if you're into D&D, but somewhat recently I saw someone make a post about a "temperature blanket" with colors for the high and low rolls per session or something like that. I have it saved, so if you're interested I can find it for you.

moth-bee

IN FACT that's really relevant because I love D&D, and this sounds like a great idea. I'm interested, feel free to send it!

Desert_Valkyrie

Hmm, I can't find the original post actually, but I thought it was some sort of hexagon blanket with the center of each hexagon and the outer portion of it being different colors corresponding to your high/low rolls of each game. Or perhaps my brain came up with the idea based off of this post, which I DID have saved, which has additional brainstorming ideas for you as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/crochet/comments/oxiszw/dd_spin_on_a_temperature_blanket/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share Hope it helps! ☺️

moth-bee

These are all great ideas, and already inspiring more.. now I'm also thinking about how cool it would be to crochet a map, with squares/hexagons. Thanks so much!

Desert_Valkyrie

Ooh, that would be neat! You're welcome!

alisaurusss

Would be cute to do this for weather (not temp, but was it sunny/rainy/cloudy/stormy etc)

moth-bee

Yeah i was thinking this could work! A sweet idea

TheUnknitter

I’ve seen mood blanket/scarf. I could make an entire blanket based off my mood switches in a day. Hahah. Look up bullet journal trackers - that might give some fun ideas.

Banditsmisfits

I was just going to suggest this, that I’ve seen bullet journals tracking mood over a period of time and the results are pretty cool. I’ve seen people with chronic illness who are better than me at tracking good and bad days and I imagine that could be a pretty powerful project for someone.

moth-bee

Ooo, good ideas.. thanks!

SkyScamall

That's absolutely hilarious. I shouldn't laugh but I'm just gonna do that if I ever make an entirely black scarf. Not 100% accurate but depression is a bitch.

TheUnknitter

Oh gosh I hear ya.

Geobead

Sky Scarf is another one that uses weather instead of temps. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sky-scarf

moth-bee

A lovely idea, thank you!

One of my local yarn stores did a cowl a couple of years ago based on the local (American) football team games. Different colors for touchdown vs field goal I think [this pattern](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/scoreboard) Is similar if not the same one they used.

moth-bee

A nice idea! Maybe i'll have to get into sports, just for the sake of knitting, haha.. or find some other activities where people keep score, hmmm?

KindlyFigYourself

Someone posted the other day that they were doing an air quality blanket instead of temperature.

hockiw

Not that long ago I came across a project blanket made of squares which represented the sky at noon: clear, slight overcast, cloudy white, cloudy stormy, big and fluffy, thin and transparent, etc. Of course, I didn’t bookmark it and now I can’t find it.

Longhairedspider

I did a potholder to track performance of a program I was testing at work - when I displayed it at a meeting, the developers were very sad ;) I felted it and used it for skillet handle covers.

Do_It_For_Me

I've seen people make one for which genre of book they were reading. You could do this for series or movies if you're not into reading.

unseenartss

I'm fascinated by the morse code idea, does anyone know something more about this? Any projects patterns etc?
