but apple card is a master card and i assume i will need to sign up and get a amex card

I never tried (I used Amex) but I heard it works on Apple Pay (does not matter if it is MC) Did you try it?

the tickets i want go up in a few hours so i cant test yet but the offical site says no master cards or visa that werent issued in japan
