[NO SPOILERS] Whats this all about then?

A teaser to Martin announcing that he finally finished page 32 of Winds of Winter
EDIT: Hey guys, George again, so turns out I didn't actually like sentence 4 on page 32. So I'm gonna have to rewrite this one. I'll send you all an update on page 32 soon. Expect it sometime before next christmas.
EDIT 2: Maybe the year after, turns out page 31 wasn't up to snuff.
Real talk winds of winter is never happening is it lol
I say the chances of him finishing Winds is about 40-50%. Chances of finishing the series 1%
I was wondering lately. Because of lockdown and social distancing rules we almost don't get any new TV shows or movies, but at least there should be a ton of new books being published. Unlike movies, books are mostly written by one person at home. The writers always complain how other engagements keep them from sitting down and concentrating on writing. Now they had a year of staying at home with almost all events cancelled, no social life, so I'm asking: Where are all the new books I've been waiting for? Of course there is a lot of work done by the editors and publishers but it seems like it could be done remotely.
Could also be that the engagements they speak of subconsciously helps.
Oftentimes, you get really good inspiration when you're not actively working on your writing. So doing PR stuff, interviews and whatnot, you might end up with some really good ideas that you wouldn't get sitting infront of your keyboard, simply because your brain is more stimulated, and not in its usual work mode.
Such a generous estimate.
This is fine.
I do not know what you did there.
A man has no know.
It is not known.
You know nothin’, Jon Snow
She’s ma queen. I know that.
I DUNT WUNT IT
This triggered my fight or flight. Thank you for reminding me of simpler times.
I know what you did there.
This is fire
Figure its some kind of countdown to news or a trailer. Are they that far Into production?
Production and possibly filming JUST started. It’s not really possible for them to have an actual trailer yet unless it’s a video of the production design etc.
Maybe a teaser? I mean the one for the elder scrolls 6 aired a while ago and was 5 sec long
Man that was almost 3 years ago now, and we've barely heard a peep since AFAIK
Thank you for making me sad.
very very sad
Elder Scrolls Online is pretty close to being TES6. It got shit on a lot when it came out for *not* being that, but it’s improved a lot since then.
You lose some stuff compared to the “real” TES games, but gain a lot too - it’s easily much bigger than every other TES game combined, and you can visit a majority of Tamriel.
I'm actually playing ESO right now. It's very different, but it is scratching the itch a bit. I'm enjoying getting to explore all the different regions. :D
I've played on and off for 6 years and I have a lot of fun as a casual player!
I decided to give TESO a try when it was free, and while the world is there, it just doesn't play like a TES game.
I've been using Skyrim to scratch the itch, modded to hell and back with new(old, actually) monsters, and overhauls to some of the gameplay stuff.
Fair enough. The lack of modding is one absolutely huge thing that makes the game feel different, agreed. Also the existence of game balance - it’s hard *not* to break Skyrim for combat and become a demigod eventually.
Personally I played ESO similarly to a single player TES game, though. Lots of exploring and questing. Its main quest is huge, and some of the side quests were really nice as well. I never felt that MMO frustration of quests that made me run back/forth in circles, or “collect 20 rat tails” type crap.
I still remember one quest chain that begins in a village that’s being attacked/burning, and you need to run through and save individual (named and fully voice acted) villagers before fighting off the invaders. It felt very cinematic and cool, like a single player rpg. Every time I passed by the now-safe village again in the future, it was a fun reminder of what had happened.
Clockwork City was another very cool experience that I’d put up there with the base TES games - people say that Morrowind was the last truly alien/unique TES game and everything else has basically been Fantasy-Europe, but I think the Clockwork City can stand on its own in that regard.
Obviously it all comes down to personal preference though, and if you didn’t enjoy it then you just didn’t enjoy it :)
It's an mmo regardless of the amount of content. Some of us want to play a normal rpg that's not a fucking mmo. They play very different and not everyone has an internet connection(or a good enough one) to make it smooth.
Fuck ESO. Bethesda needs to get more people on 6 cause people want a fucking single player rpg to lose themselves in for another 10 years. I'm sick of seeing elder scrolls ads and trailers only to click on them and WHOOPS its an ESO ad.
It’s an mmo that you can play like 98% of without ever interacting with another player, and I never had issues with needing a great connection despite living in an incredibly isolated area. It’s not a very competitive game.
But thanks for the incredibly rude and entitled reply just because I had the audacity to suggest a game to someone else. Just because you hate it on principle doesn’t mean that everyone else has to hate it too.
I mean, he's entitled to not liking it and giving his opinion same as you. He didn't direct any comment at you specifically so I don't know why you feel so attacked. His comment was about Bethesda not you.
And it is a good point that while ESO might be good quality, an MMO experience isn't the same, regardless of if you can ignore the other players. I played ESO and it was ok for a while but ultimately I've played MMOs before and the charm wore off 10 years ago. It doesn't matter if you dress it up in Elder Scrolls clothing.
Yeah MMO’s arent it for me either. There is a gigantic difference between a single player rpg and an mmo and saying there close is like saying an almond joy is the same as a mounds bar. Close, but some jarring differences for people that care.
I’m with the other guy. I’ve tried eso and it’s completely unbearable compared to skyrim. It’s a completely different feel, some of us are ready for the next one.
You don't need to pay for a subscription though. You can just buy the dlc separately if you wish. My friends and I played through around 200 hours of it just with the base game and the dlc that came with the gold edition.
They said they only relished that to shut us all up. They have no reason or desire to be showing off another Elder Scrolls, every knows what to expect with that. They are mainly focused on StarFall or what ever it's called. The focus is on the new IP that's set to release years before ES6. It will be a while before we get any real info, so don't hold your breath.
I actually prefer things this way. Let people know you're working on it but don't keep creating false promises and fake hype (looking at you CP) and when it's ready it is ready.
I dont know, but if it is a trailer id expect to see it with in the year?
They put out a weird trailer a few days ago. And of course, they received a huge backlash in the comments.
Edit: lol just checked, HBO literally poured out a handful of trailers for the original series in the past few days/weeks.
Didn't they release the 4K Blu Ray set recently? Maybe it's something to do with that.
It's also around the 10 yr anniversary. *Sad sigh*
Sounds about right. 8 seasons of the show and the last two seasons had longer production windows.
Such a shame that the creators lost their way in the later seasons. If they ever went back and reshoot the ending to match the books, it would make sense for Danny to be older given she conquered a continent. At least Dan and Dave lost their deal with Disney.
Looks like a countup, not countdown.
April was "10 Year Anniversary Celebration Month" for them. They've been doing tons of promo for the GoT seasons in general. Just check out their youtube. *Tons* of videos this month. All just promoting/celebrating GoT in general.
Would be nice if something larger is planned, but I doubt it.
Announcement that a prequel series is now in production. Zzzzz
START THE DAMN JOUST BEFORE I PISS MESELF
And tell me Renly, when will you be having *your* friend?

Yeah like how "The North Remem-" oh, never mind
House Mormont remembers!
> “My name is Nynaeve ti al’Meara Mandragoran. The message I want sent is this. My husband rides from World’s End toward Tarwin’s Gap, toward Tarmon Gai’don. Will he ride alone?"
> “He will not, my Lady. I cannot stand surety for anyone else, but I swear to you under the Light and by my hope of rebirth and salvation, he will not ride alone.”
> “Well, Managan, Gorenellin,” he demanded, “do you still remember who you are? Do you remember your blood? Who rides with me for Tarwin’s Gap?”
> For a moment, he thought neither man would speak, but then Gorenellin was on his feet, tears glistening his eyes. “The Golden Crane flies for Tarmon Gai’don,” he said softly.
> “The Golden Crane flies for Tarmon Gai’don!” Managan shouted, leaping up so fast he overturned his chair.Laughing, Aldragoran joined them, all three shouting at the top of their lungs. “The Golden Crane flies for Tarmon Gai’don!”
Yes! Thanks for the goosebumps.
I get so happy at the thought of brothermanship, honoring the call, riding to war side by side, etc etc. I don't really get it, but it's like one of the few things that makes me emotional.
So, it is before the walls of Minas Tirith that the doom of our time be decided...
The beacons are lit
Muster the Rohirrim
Where was Gondor when the teleporting pirates attacked?! Where was Gondor when season 8 fell?!? Where was Gondor-
Yeah, Gondor sort of forgot about them.
Hodor held the door until it was gone-door
Another man of culture, I see
D&D kind of forgot about the Westfold
...and my axe
She did like to read about the Dance...
Are you going to die for some chickens?
It’s probably referencing the scene where stuff is on fire.
I think you know the one.
Yeah, the one with all the fire right?
Nope, the one that has some fire in it.
How many more years we have to wait for WOW
Spent too long wondering why you are waiting for World of Warcraft.
Feel dumb now.
The Burning Crusade is released in a month or so!
Heat death of the universe, dude. Plus one.
I've resigned myself to believing it will not happen until George either gives it to a different author or passes away and his estate hires a ghost writer. The dude likes creating stories, but ending them is more difficult and he has too many projects that are far more interesting.
We've already seen a clumsy, ham-fisted version of how this story ends. It'll be at least another decade before we see the right version.
I'm worried we saw his ending with the tv series and it was so widely blasted as terrible it shattered his confidence/psyche and he cant finish it.
Whilst I agree with you, my thought is that he left them a basic outline and rather than 'painting by numbers', D&D just connected the dots and called it a day.
The problem now is that his audience already knows how many of the stories end, and he's lost his drive to complete his work. Pair that with how much more fun it is to flesh out these unknown stories and I just don't see any incentive for him to go back and finish it.
I've also resigned myself to not supporting any other GRRM projects until ASOIAF is complete.
If I thought that my abstaining would get him focused on finishing, I would. But I really enjoyed Fire and Blood and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. I love GRRM's work, I just hate that D&D hit the fast forward button and rushed the last two seasons.
If we don't support his new works, it will only slow down or stop other fantasy TV productions.
So as someone who has given up on ASOIAF, I'd rather support his new works and hope that it further opens the door for future fantasy authors and series.
I’m not sure I buy that it will affect other fantasy productions. But I do see your point to some degree.
However, if most of us gave up on a project 80% of the way to completion, our employers, clients, etc sure aren’t going to hire us, ask us, support us, etc. to do another one.
I'm thinking maybe Brandpn Sanderson? He did a pretty good job on WOT. Question is, is he interested? Back then he was just another WOT fan, now he's a got his own series' to write...
Sanderson or Abercrombie would be cool. Sanderson doesn't do Martin's style really, but he is an absolute productivity beast, and he is darling of fantasy readers everywhere. Martin is a lot more graphic than Sanderson with the violence/sex (understandably cause Brando Sando is Mormon). Hence why I just threw out Abercrombie.
Brando has previously said he doesn’t think he is the right person to finish ASoIaF.
Also he's backing away from anything not Cosmere since he's starting to think that he won't be able to finish it unless that's all he works on. He already finished one iconic series, maybe let another writer get the boost they need from ASoIaF
Even if he were willing, he really isn’t the right writing style or tone fit for the series.
Haha no he isn't
I'll do it, for a lot less than D&D.
Jon Snuu and Dany C did the sex and Ty Dog was mad sad then the next day they were at West of Roast and the dragons burned everything and everyone lived happily ever after.
and just think, we thought it was a long stretch of time between Feast and Dance...
* A Game of Thrones (1996)
* A Clash of Kings (1998)
* A Storm of Swords (2000)
* A Feast for Crows (2005)
* A Dance with Dragons (2011)
At this rate, WoW will be out next year, and DoS will be out in 2035 or so
After Daenerys becomes fertile again.
Don’t you that evil on me!
The night is dark and full of terrors.
It is known.
i think just changing account name to house of dragon
House of dragons trailer
Lol - they started filming like a few days ago I am pretty sure.
They end up posting some voice over of kindergarten cop.
They are known to rush things
HBO kind of forgot about shooting the rest.
I think something is coming
It's probably just winter
Yeah we can take care of that in like 5 minutes when it gets here
*Ned Stark has entered the chat*
So they gonna announce season 7... can’t wait for it. It’s been a while now since season 6
Yea they just announced it’s now in production. Meh
Little early for that. Maybe some kind of teaser.
Danny targarian must have gotten ahold of the twitter
I'm ready to get hurt again.
Mother of Dragon using the Twitter account.
Visualization of them burning down the fandom?
House of dragons
They’re dissing my boy Sandor, those cunts!
I don't understand the fuss, this is just the acknowledgment of the dumpster fire that was the final season.
@gameofthrones I command you stop this nonsense in the name of your king!
The production of House of the Dragon has officially started.
Probably a visualization of the hype burning out.
Figured this was a recap of the end of the series.
Summer is coming 🔥🔥🔥
Every fire represents the quality of every season.
They're saying that the dumpster fire that was the series finale is still burning, and they need help because the garbage stench is too overwhelming and they're about to pass out. Please, it's an emergency!
it's lighting the biggest fire the north has ever seen!
House of the Dragon’s officially in production
I'm guessing they're announcing the Targaryen prequel series based on Fire and Blood
It's the 10th year anniversary of GOT when it first premiered
*One dark night, when we were all in bed,*
*Mrs. O'Leary left a lantern in the shed.*
*And when the cow kicked it over,*
*She winked her eye and said,*
*"There'll be a hot time in the old town tonight!"*
**Fire! Fire! Fire!**
they just announced they started production on House of the Dragon, so this is probably a hint to that
House of Fire series in production
I've been rewatching the series recently and its still great. Whatever happened to the final book?
It's how the fire went down with later seasons.
Just Anakin Skywalker burning in lava
It's just an announcement that rr finished the second chapter of wow.
It’s a depiction of my interest in the Game of Thrones franchise.
It’s the teaser for House of Dragon isn’t it? 🐲
It doesn't mean anything. Just like season 8.
They are reviewing season 8.
Booooooo...... Boooooo Game of Thrones..... Booooooooo...... Boooooo Wendy Testaburger...... Boooooooo...... Boooooo Game of Thrones..... Boooooo.... Boooooooo..... Booooooooo
Thats how they massacred the show.
The flame of interest dying out as season 8 progressed.
Are they finally announcing season 8?
Hold on... production of WHAT?!
That's how they slowly burned the last season.
no thank you
Thats the flame of love dying out the further you get into season eight
They're showing us what should have happened to the S7&8 scripts
