Our professionally-installed invisible fence worked great with a border collie and golden retriever. I'm not sure I would trust a beagle with an invisible fence unless I was home and monitoring the situation. Even then, I would expect some escapes.
Exposed wire electric fence has worked best for us with beagles. I did try a cheap DIY invisible with a beagle at one point. I don't think I trained him to the fence as well as I should have, but the bottom line is that dog was very stubborn. When he smelled something interesting enough to chase, he would just take the hit when he crossed the fence. After he had his fun, he would come back and sit outside the shock zone and wait for us to turn it off to bring him in. He did the same with chain link: willing to climb out but not willing to climb in.
lol yeah my tyson would just take the pain, no stopping him unless its a brick concrete wall lol
That difference between the amount of effort Fred would put into accomplishing his goals and the amount of effort he would put into accomplishing my goals was substantial.
Invisible fences are usually not recommended for beagle homes. Not much can stop them once they catch an intriguing scent. I would check with the manufacturer, but I've never seen one that works for beagles. Good luck!
