So I get being positive. But over complimenting can be just as bad. It can make people over confident and reinforce bad habits.
There is plenty of things he can work on, the model looks great, don't get me wrong but its ok to give constructive feed back.
[I say this because, this is considered "epic"](https://www.crystalbrush.com/wp-content/gallery/2018-diorama-2/81_4.jpg), [and this](https://www.crystalbrush.com/wp-content/gallery/2018-diorama-2/81_3.jpg)
Like I said, OP did a great job but "fucking epic" is a huge exaggeration.
I agree to a degree. Let's find a middle ground with: this looks fucking epic. Is it professionally painted ? no. does it look fucking badass ? yes, it does.
Noted.
From now on, before I praise any item of pained work, I shall run my opinion by u/Bear_in_Disguises first to endure its up to Crystal Brush standards.
Even though I play orks I can't help but love the tau. They would be my third or second army (I gotta get a space marine army at some point) if I didn't have so much to paint.
It's so clean! The camo blends so well with the base, while not getting lost, and your dark/light accents help it to pop as a model! Half the time the struggle with camo models it the camo is too good (it blurs all shapes and becomes visually just a lump of color)... This, this looks both tactical and artistic, i love it
* The basing is flat and uninspired, cork sheet "rocks" unincorporated into the rest of the piece.
* Weird blue color for base rims. Don't you know the only options are black, brown, and Goblin Green?
* No snow painted on the tips of the grass tufts, no wash into the grass tufts to incorporated it into the basing better.
* No highlights on the orange armor.
* Orange lights are the same color as the orange armor, making it look like a clutter.
* The freehand pattern is too thick, there are paint overspills of the white lines.
* Visible mold lines on the shoulder, feet, abdomen, and other areas.
* You didn't paint the light on the eye.
* The edge highlights are too thick and have too much of a jump in color no transition color layered in between, try using a color like dark reaper over those areas before defining the light gray line.
* No edge highlights to the patterned armor.
* It's not an official Games Workshop color scheme. It probably doesn't even use Citadel^(TM) paints either.
3/10. See me after class. >!Obviously joshing you. I think it looks stellar.!<
Looks great OP, here are some things I see that need work.
1. Think your paints. I can see the texture of paint. [such as here, on the chest](https://i.imgur.com/dry4wrO.png). You may also want to s
2. In that same picture I linked, you can actually see that your white lines may not be solid. [Get a set of good long brush liners](https://www.jerrysartarama.com/silver-brush-ultra-mini-golden-taklon-brush-liner-set-64478) they are absolutely great for making lines like that.
3. Your silvers, [Example here, from your model](https://i.imgur.com/wL3Pczz.png) are not uniform. Also look at the symbol, its chipped. You also have the gold and silver kind of sloppy. Also, there is no wash on the silver or shading of any type. This is the entire model, the oranges have issues with consistent clean colors. Look at the orange on your gun, its very badly done.
You do have a decent start at the basics of blending, your blues aren't horrible, they are just something that needs work and that comes with time and practice.

Otherwise, keep at it man. Got a great start.
With the white I used the brand AK - they have diorama paints and I used the water foam acrylic :) but they do have snow as well! Come in big lots so you won’t run out to soon either hahah
So you should be, its fucking epic
What this guy said 👆
Took the words right out of my fingers.
Couldn't of said it better myself

word
Perhaps an odd detail to pick up on but I adore the base! Looks like an alien world
I tried to make it an ocean ‘stealth’ suit, the pink grass reminded me of coral! :)
You nailed it, first thought I got seeing the base, was: "so cool, looks like frozen/Arctic ocean"
Yup, got the ocean theme instantly. Looks way cooler than any Hygogg or Accguy.
I would be absolutely honoured to get obliterated by this.
I agree 👍
That is a beautiful unique scheme! Stick this on /r/Tau40K
By far the coolest Tau I've ever seen. Incredible work.
You should be proud. Cool and unique.
That is sick, how'd you do that fade effect on the armor?
Wet blending, sketched out the pattern, then stifling wet paint to blend and smooth out! Then overlaid the white lines again :)
Getting major titanfall ronin vibes and I love it
My husband has a Tau painted to look just like BT!
I’d love to see that if you (and your husband) are willing to show it
I’ll have to!
Damn, that is stunning
This color scheme reminds me of Maliwan which I abdolutely adore!
The only way this could be improved would be if you changed the title to “First ModelC&C Welcome”
Like I’m down for C&C hahah my reddit history would argue first lol
Dope as fuck!
As you should, this is incredible
Its fucking awesome
One of the coolest paint schemes I've seen for Tau. Awesome job!
This is fucking awesome! Great scheme and even better execution. Well done!
Epic indeed
I'd be happy to pay for this work! Looks incredible my friend!
This is fucking awesome
insane! very nice :)
I’m jelly mate. This looks absolutely gorgeous.
I’m proud too. Excellent work!
This reminds me of Zone of the Enders. The mech you control has a similar color.
I was actually inspired by a Gundam painter on Instagram call Senasukepainter - she is insane! Very similar vibes!
Wow! Just wow! Amazing job!
Love the color scheme brother
Totally reminds me of some of the Titanfall 2 skins, awesome!
This is inspired!
Looks cool! Good job!
As well you should be! Beautiful! I might just have to take some notes.
This is my new favorite from all the things I've ever seen painted.
very nice, how long u need for?
And you should be, that looks absolutely fantastic!
Great work, love fractal designs like this, and an awesome model of course
Coolest Tau scheme I’ve ever seen. Absolutely amazing. You did such a good job.
Holy moly that’s cool!
Are ya gonna do a whole army like this?
I might do a few more in the same scheme when I get the time again!
Incredible job
Incredible paintjob! How many nights did you spend?
Way to many
Looks like something out of T’autinfall
Incredible work 🙌🙌
That looks sick!! Good job!
You should be, it’s fantastic!
You should be! Great job!
I really like your scheme here, nice work!
Damn! I love this. Great job.
That looks awesome. I might have to copy it with some color changes lol
I really like the water base, you don't see a lot of those.
amazing
Daayyyum that looks sick!
Even though I play orks I can't help but love the tau. They would be my third or second army (I gotta get a space marine army at some point) if I didn't have so much to paint.
Playing both is great :) one for dakka, one for smakka
I've been debating on a colour scheme for starting fire warriors for ages now and this has to be the coolest inspiration by far.
Subnautica vibes!
I want to start collecting, but I can't decide between something like that or a knight. Great job on that!
Love the color scheme!
Man that looks so cool, very impressive.
I love how you matched the base. Mythic
You should be looks amazing keep it up
Beautiful
Fucking sick.
Damn that's a smooth paint job
I mean, I could do this. If I had 3x the talent I do now and the fine motor skills of a tiny mouse. Jesus dude, nice work!
LOVE those colors man, great depth
Thats baller as hell
Magnificent! Did you mix the blues on the armor yourself or did you use pre-mixed paints?
I used two citadel paints and wet blended them :) Ahriman Blue and Incubi Darkness!
Beautiful. I’d love to get some tau just to paint em
Super amazing
You just made me want to give up on my tau army because it will never look even 1/10 this good
Please don’t! The Tau is hated enough! May as well look good while killing them from the distance!
Nah. I’ll keep on trucking. But damn is that model insane!
Leave some talent for the rest of us! For real this is amazing.
Hello? Yes. I'd like 8 please.
The broken up ice camo pattern is stellar. One of the most creative, unique and well done schemes I have seen.
This is the coolest Tau I've ever seen, and one of the cooler painted models I've ever seen! You should be proud!
Wow, beautiful
Great job, very cool!
So the Tau just straight up make Titanfall suits?
Looks straight from pacific rim.awesome
wow thats incredible!
Heroic.
Dang, that is some super work. Keep up the good work!
This is so SICK! Awesome choice of colors and amazing painting skills
Great job! It is a wonderful design that has been achieved brilliantly. How long would you say it took you in total?
It probably took me all up.. 15-20 hours altogether maybe? I did have some break between that I can’t guess an accurate amount of time!
It's so clean! The camo blends so well with the base, while not getting lost, and your dark/light accents help it to pop as a model! Half the time the struggle with camo models it the camo is too good (it blurs all shapes and becomes visually just a lump of color)... This, this looks both tactical and artistic, i love it
Subnautica?
Some possible inspiration maybe but no! My inspiration was an Instagram gundam artist who goes by senasukepainter :)
Looks great
How long did that take you, it looks fucking sick
Thanks! It took I think 15-20 hours - but I did have a few longer breaks between procrastinating work so I can’t guarantee 🥲
So much awesome on one base!!! Well down and thanks for sharing it
That's so cool. I love the scheme
wow! you made it look terrifying!
Good god that is glorious… well freaking done
Cool as fuck
Badass!
I'll take 5 to go!
This is amazing
Bro that's awesome!
We're proud of it too
This is beautiful
Ok, change of faction, I'm going tau.
Wish mine was half this cool. Fucking awesome!
As you should! Looks sweet!
Let the Imperium tremble ✊✊
This looks slick! You nailed that otherworldly colour scheme.
I would too , it turned out badass
That's super sick! You got an Instagram we could follow?
My Insta is NachoWalrus- though I don’t post too often and is a personal Insta as well hahah
Ahh fair, have you considered a mini's insta? Cause looking at your post history I bet it would go down real well 😂😂😅
I’m not to fussed about it, plus I paint so inconsistently that I can’t promise many updates hahah
Fair enough! Well I look forward to seeing more posts on here either way 😂😂 Keep up the great work!
Thanks again!
I dont think i could possibly overstate just how damn GOOD this looks
Banging
Excellent! 😍
My actual response while seeing this was Whoaaa.... out loud. I fucking love it!
Thank you!
thats just too good, i do not have the patience to paint that level of detail

Thanks so much! The gun was a little rushed as I had to submit the figure for a best in the west comp! Will definitely get some cleaning up done!
Hey, no problem. You did great on the effect, it’s an awesome idea. But yea, some videos and some practice and you’ll be showcasing bad ass models.
looks a bit shit but you obvi put a lot of work in to it
☹️
Cam you reveal your ice basing secrets to me?? I'm doing ice and snow for my soulblight
With the white I used the brand AK - they have diorama paints and I used the water foam acrylic :) but they do have snow as well! Come in big lots so you won’t run out to soon either hahah
Just wow 😯
Amazing my dude !
A masterpiece.
What a beauty!
Epic
Hell ya! Badass and unique
Those lines are so incredibly crisp. I love it!
That is a work of art. It looks beautifully done.
Awesome paint work. Love the little white stippling in there
