heytchap_

Literally one of the least “unpopular” opinions in the city. What a meme. You should wear a mask though. Don’t be a dick.

Batpandakun

Looks to be pretty unpopular based on the comments.

Gay_Leo_Gang

Yea you’re kind of a dick.

Not necessarily Gascon just came in 😂 hasn’t really be able to actually do everything he would like to The main issue would be the bureaucratic bottleneck Los Angeles county has every councilmember has been bought out by developing interests and other groups so fixing or solving the homelessness issue isn’t a priority. But it’s a great thing to run on and promise people to supposedly fix. I will say there are certain areas in Los Angeles county that are impacted more than other. Also a lot of transit and homeless people I’ve met and I’ve tried to help I’ve realized a lot of them are from out of state and not local so that’s another thing you got to see. California/Los Angeles and Southern California get a huge influx of other states transient and homelessness.

Batpandakun

Affording Gaston more time is not going to benefit anybody but criminals. Cops don't even respond to lower level crimes anymore because the law has no teeth under Gascon. If we didn't keep giving homeless people houses, foot massages, and happy endings,, we wouldn't have so many drug addicts coming from out of state to live on the beach for free.

AveragePowerful

Prior to gascon cops respond times were and still are trash 😆 The attitudes we see now from police has been because they are being watched more then ever and because they have a lot dirty laundry because exposed. It’s a mix of things not just one ☝️ thing. Only select homeless have been able to get housing tho? A lot need rehabilitation amd honestly the county has a lot of land they aren’t using that could be used to help them while social services (that’s another issue that needs attention) can step in to help It would be nice if the city clean and repaved a lot of the major transit areas instead of focusing on repaving the palisades, BH , Bel air Etc It suxs at lot these issues are inter connect and I thank the pandemic for exposing it. This country has a lot of cracks that have been left untreated and ignored for a long time I’m based out of Ktown and the homeless was tamed up until they cleared out echo park. Now they flooded back here and parts of Hollywood The city just likes to move them from one spot to the next to show off. I bet if they got moved to a very affluent area things would be addressed immediately 🤦‍♂️

Batpandakun

I am a huge proponent of mental health care which is severely lacking, but they closed all of the poorly run psych hospitals. I would gladly shovel more money into taxes which would create better mental health care rather than $700k per unit condos that nobody can use.

AveragePowerful

at this point a lot of folks are just fed up we the bs the mayor and the city council have been trying to pass as “progress” Portland has a mental health response unit that your able to call when you see people in need and it works well. It just suxs that every things has to do woth money and re-election and investment 😔 Also if your ok answering: why part of LA are in ? Even uninct LA like Santa Clarita amd Palmdale 😂

Ok_Establishment96

Some people (read: anyone under the age of 12) *can’t* get vaccinated. That’s why you should wear a fucking mask.

gothlene

Maybe they should wear a mask instead

Batpandakun

People under the age of 12 have mild to no symptoms from Covid. They don't need my protection.

JWeitze

The homeless are an unfun issue that speaks to the inequality and wage gape in America. The rising Covid cases are due to the nature of Covid and American legislators wanting power. LA county has become the face of news outlets predicting a second stage of lockdowns. It’s ridiculous when the death rate is much lower. Covid isn’t going to disappear. We have to learn to live with it. Just like every virus before

steelLA125

With all the housing available for homeless, they choose to stay on the street. It’s not speaking to wage gaps (although i do believe that’s an issue to) it’s speaking to mental health and these people choosing this life style of being homeless and drugs over working.

JWeitze

Yes I agree. We need better health resources. But if you don’t want to realize and recognize that cost of living in LA is ridiculous then idk.

Batpandakun

The cost of living is definitely ridiculous, but it's unrelated to the majority of the homeless situation.

LocksmithExtension75

LA is literally known across the nation has having the most homeless in the country People from out of state who hate homeless move to LA and bitch about homeless people….. I dislike Trump supporters. That’s like if I moved to Mississippi or Alabama and I started bitching everyday on Reddit about being around Trump supporters. If you are going to bitch and bitch and bitch about living in LA then there’s plenty of other cities you can move to.

Batpandakun

I take your point, but that's a pretty fatalistic approach. We should still hope to improve the situation.

Unleashtheducks

Sooooo, the police shouldn’t be charged for the actual crimes they do but Gascon should be charged as an accomplice for not trying to get the maximum sentence for every arrest in the city? Yeah, you’re an asshole dude

Batpandakun

Of course police should be charged for the crimes they commit. All criminals should be charged for their crimes regardless of their profession.

BlueGrotta

The homeless have more rights it seems than homeowners and renters. They continue to come to CA know this.
