Do you want to migrate? To where and why?

TeachersAreMyPets

I was born in Greece, I live in Greece and I wanna leave Greece ASAP. The biggest reason is that I don't think I will ever have a good future here. I've asked a lot of people what should I do with my future and they all say the same thing ; Leave Greece, you have the priority to do it. Don't waste your time anymore. (the weird thing n is that people here call me also '' Greek''). But from the other side, I get so angry with my parents. They kept me away from Albania. Every time I ask them, they always reply with the same answer : are you happy here, we've given you everything. Stop being a baby.... I'm thinking of going in Albania, I think I'd be a good idea. I wanna make some really big changes, I just have 3 years (or 2)

Shqiptaria580

>people here call me also '' Greek''). But from the other side, I get so angry with my parents. They kept me away from Albania I am not surprised, this happened with many Albanians who moved to Greece. >Every time I ask them, they always reply with the same answer : are you happy here, we've given you everything. Stop being a baby.... *"I am not behaving like a baby, but you treat me as one."* >I'm thinking of going in Albania, I think I'd be a good idea. I wanna make some really big changes, I just have 3 years (or 2) You can do that, get in touch with your roote again. If you got a good education you can move there and get paid better than others. And living in Albania is cheaper than Greece.

TeachersAreMyPets

> "I am not behaving like a baby, but you treat me as one." >I'm thinking of going in Albania, I think I'd be a good idea. I wanna Thankssssss I'll use that

justacupoftea99

>And living in Albania is cheaper than Greece. 😂😂😂😂😂( She has no idea about the value of money..)

Detonage

Not really want to migrate to any country. If i had to go then i would rather go to South Korea or Japan rather than Western Countries. For the reason that why i don't want to migrate is I want to be in my Country i born & i want my country to be developed rather than giving migrations to other countries.

Shqiptaria580

>For the reason that why i don't want to migrate is I want to be in my Country i born & i want my country to be developed rather than giving migrations to other countries. Hats off to you chief! 👏

JollyScarfVGC

I was born in Bulgaria, moved to the US. I want to get the fuck out of here as soon as possible. Applied to scholarships and a few universities in the Netherlands for nuclear physics.

Euler_e271828

Why dont you like US? Did you have bad experience generally?

JollyScarfVGC

Bad politics, bad weather, very unsafe, far from my family, and HORRIBLE people.

thestealthyslav

Where in American?

JollyScarfVGC

Florida. Not exclusive to here though.

Zarzavatbebrat

Why do you think they are horrible people?

JollyScarfVGC

Violent trump supporters, gun culture, much more. It just feels like everyone’s stupid... not really exclusive to the US but yeah

Zarzavatbebrat

True, but that depends on where in the US you live. Florida is known for being terrible in that regard lol.

paradoxfox__

Do you plan on returning to Bulgaria?

JollyScarfVGC

Not sure. Maybe, I am still a citizen and most of my family lives there so it’s still a valid choice for me.

Turkbud

I work as a freelancer on the internet, ,i have currently worked junior professionally for a year and have not found a single paying job in turkey in that time, all my gigs have been from europeans and americans. I have a turkish diploma that is entirely useless and an education that is empty save for the '''''prestigious'''' state university i went to (all bullcrap, its hard to get into but once you go in there is no education there) I want to go live in a country where i will be respected, where i will have the opportunity to grow as a person and earn an honest liveable wage. I dont want to live with my single mother until im 30 years old. My brother moved to USA few years ago and i want to migrate there to live with him. Yes people are cold there and americans are really, really stupid but life in general seem much more fair and liveable.

atom__android

Balkans is dying, nothing will be left here but the children of the oligarks and corrupt politicians. We'll go in the west to assimilate and become part of their empty and mad mentalities, comfortable life but no identity.

kebbicsky

This is the burden of balkan men , Isn't it ?

atom__android

It is

Shqiptaria580

This is just perfectly well described!

BurekSaSirom187

I'm actually getting ready to move back to Bosnia after this Corona shit is over. I don't want my kids to grow up in the Liberal West. Money is not everything.

bosniakfox

Based

bosniakfox

I'm surprised at the amount of people like me here who don't want to leave their country and it low key makes me happy.

[deleted]

I want to migrate to the US, specifically NYC in the Bronx, for 1 big reason: I see no future living here in the average slums of Tirana.

TeachersAreMyPets

>the Bronx [?! ](https://youtu.be/BLikP6BDH5w)

[deleted]

Why?

TeachersAreMyPets

Oh nothing... Except, sex workers, drug dealers, houses gets easily robbed, black people won't like you (they might throw milk or eggs in your car, but that depends on the area you'll choose to live)...

Shqiptaria580

You know all ethnicites here have their own gang right? So if a black person gets in trouble with an Albanian then gangs will crusade each other. Believe me Bronx is a ghetto place here.

TeachersAreMyPets

Oh...

[deleted]

Ok then, I stand corrected.

PhantomSlayer89

I live in New York. The Bronx is pretty unsafe, u/teachersaremypets has partially exaggerated it as the north Bronx is quite safe but it lacks any feeling of the city. Imo it’s not worth moving here anytime soon, not until the Covid thing blows over and the city recovers as it’s in a bad place rn. But of the boroughs the Bronx and Staten Island are the worst. Personally I’ve always liked queens as it’s cheap, safe, and nice. Western Brooklyn is nice too but can be expensive. Obviously manhattan is great but aside from upper manhattan, rents can be really high and inconsistent. Regardless nyc is great but not now and don’t move to the Bronx tbh

TeachersAreMyPets

I just shared my experience

PhantomSlayer89

That is fair, I didn’t mean to discredit you because those things do happen i simply wanted to add that it kind of varies by neighborhood, ethnicity and so forth. But you’re right in that for the most part the Bronx is often a shit hole lmao

[deleted]

Thanks for the info, will definitely take into consideration.

PhantomSlayer89

Also the thing with Staten Island is it’s very very safe, it’s just boring, it’s all lower middle class dense suburban New York housing with nothing really going on, and the most uneventful of the boroughs. Figured I’d also mention on why I said I don’t like it lol, because from the perspective of crime it’s quite safe

Shqiptaria580

Without any degree in something your life here will be harxer than in Albania. Or if you got connections there you can indeed reach something.

[deleted]

I'm trying to get a degree in computer engeneering and IT.

[deleted]

it might sound weird to some, but i actually want to migrate back. I have been born and raised in Diaspora, and i am enjoying great education and a life. But every year we visit home, i realize, it is never gonna build itself. We need to help build it ourselves, nobody is going to do it for us. I want to go back, and build bridges(metaphorically). I know there is a lot of corruption etc., but it is what it is and will be worth a try.

Shqiptaria580

Same here, will do it after retirement. It just feels home there with my relatives who were left behind. Just save a lot of money and sell your real estate when you move back and you will live like a noble person in Kosovo.

[deleted]

Its much easier to exist once you can afford to be an individual and when most people around you are the same. I grew up in eastern Croatia, very poor part of country where you can literally feel depression seeping out of every conversation. People don't have a possibility or don't want to to think about their future as you are just trying to survive working dead end job, so they talk about bullshit stuff like ethnicity, low level politics. They try to become part of bigger identity as they think this will somehow protect them from worst possible scenario (losing everything). Once you can afford to think about your future in a positive manner things drastically change.

gate18

Spot on

[deleted]

Unfortunately, Turkey has become an Islamist shit hole. A car is 300-700 months salary worth and the whole country is basically Erdogan’s playground. I would go any place where an atheist Turk like me can live in peace. But to express a specific country, Canada would be good. 🇨🇦

DreamingMapper

I’ve already completed the migration process a long time ago. Sure, the west is objectively better economically, but I will always miss the Balkans. It could be a great place, but sadly politicians only care about making themselves better, and not their surroundings.

BigDickEnterprise

I study in an EU country atm. The more I live here the more I understand I'll never enjoy my life outside of home

ElGrandeAki

Zasto ?

bosniakfox

Because everywhere you go you will always be a "auslander/outlander" even if you are 3rd or 4th generation there you are an auslander. No place like home.

Zarzavatbebrat

The US is an exception though. But there are other reasons not to live there.

nbgdblok45

Live a couple of years in Dubai, return to Serbia. Portugal and The Netherlands seem good as well.

selennn

Yes and to the USA. I may or may not want to come back depending on how soon we’ll get rid of rte. If it takes too long I’ll probably be settled in already without much incentive to turn back.

nycanth

I was born in USA, raised in Skopje and moved back to New York after high school. Honestly I am happy to be here, even with the current atrocious state of things it’s much better than being in MK (as a black slav it was especially bothersome) and just being away from my family is worth it. I got a job here, I’m going to apply to college and pursue something I can enjoy, and most importantly I can actually use Paypal here to do freelance illustration online on the side. When I made a MK paypal you can’t even receive money or connect a bank, thanks Macedonian cash fraud :) My family is well off on their own and I want to maybe visit them, but living there again is completely out of the question. I live in the Bronx so if I’m ever craving things I can go to Little Italy where there are a lot of Albanian stores importing Balkan products, they even have Prilepska gazoza. 😔👌 My only regret is I will probably never eat another 7ca burger again (or for some years)

Showbiz_CH

>black slav Is that a phrase I don't understand or do you mean your skin color?

nycanth

i mean my skin color. one of my parents is black and one is macedonian

Showbiz_CH

Thank you for clarification. It surely wasn't easy in Macedonia. Cool mix, though!

KabootyYakushi

Yes I do, I would love to move to the US (especially New York). Not for economical reasons, since I have a pretty decent job and income here, but it's been a childhood dream and Western Europe is way too cold and too boring for my liking. (I live in Kosovo btw)

Shqiptaria580

As someone who lived in both places (Western EU and close to NY now) I can tell you that NY is expensive as fuck. Did you know that Albanians who moved here 10 uesrs ago can't afford a normal house and rent immobile homes? You should not complain about West EU, it is a good place to live no doubt. But NY is legit so fucking expensive.

KabootyYakushi

Thanks a lot for letting me know, I figured NY is very expensive, but yeah it is mostly a childhood dream thing. I wouldn't mind living somewhere near that though. As I said I don't enjoy life in Western Europe for various reasons > racism, the fact that they will treat you like a third class citizen no matter what, too boring life, miserable weather, too focused on work, way too many immigrants from Africa and ME etc. Money isn't everything sometimes.

Shqiptaria580

I can believe that, the U.S. has a lot of career opportunities. In the U.S. nobody cares if you're Albanian or Swede for example so you're safe. They only care wether you're white or black. But in Western EU it truly matters what your ethnicity is. And you're right too many refugees in the West from African and Asian countries. It's not easy to be granted U.S. citizenship, believe me.

TeachersAreMyPets

>Money isn't everything sometimes. Of course, but it surely makes misery easier to live with.

AntoniaLmao

Nope,I never want to move to another country. I love Romania too much to leave

rizlapluss

No

toshkata244_244

Yes, if i want to go work somewhere to make money for months or a year or couple of years I'd go to Germany. If i want to go live somewhere and settle, marry have children etc... I'd choose either Srbija or Russia, as I'm not a fan of the west, they just have more money aren't better than us like it's propaganded here.

igcsestudent2

I don't plan to migrate and live somewhere else permanently, but I would like to work in the UK after getting dentistry degree for 6 years. I wouldn't have to learn a new language + it's very lucrative job there + I just prefer it more than other Western countries.

petitEvelyn

We just always think there are more earning possibilities in the western part of the world :/

koverg

Its so sad people are kigrating, Balkan countries are ind esperate need for prioritising education and birth rates, otherwise the dog and the old mans bones will be the only things left here, I am in the west but I really want to move back, I couldnt care less about the salary if it means I have enough for food and taxes tbh

zig_zag07

Yes, germany there are more opportunities in the west.

shqitposting

Was told all my life to do it and I did. Oh well.

Zekieb

I didn't really move I just "won" or "lost" (depends on how you see it) the sperm lottery.

CommieSlayer1389

'Stralia sounds nice, when you take away the fact that the continent is actively trying to kill you.

PitchBlack4

As soon as I'm able to.

maximhar

I finished my education in the UK but it's a pretty shit country to live in actually... so I came back. I don't intend to leave again for now.
